Robert Gould Shaw was an American military officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War who was the son of Francis George and Sarah Blake Sturgis Shaw. He was born in Boston the 10 october 1837. He was killed in the Second Battle of Fort Wagner, near Charleston, South Carolina.

He’s famous because he commanded the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment who gathered all black voluntary which entered the war in 1863 with the others infantery during the American Civil War who opposed the United States and the confederates States. They defended with bravery the Fort Wargner and the mentality of the americans about the black people change.
