L’histoire se déroule en campagne au sud de l’angletterre un couple sans enfants sans problème.L’homme était cadre et sa femme secrétaire.
Le réveil sonna…Monsieur et madame hopkins se réveillèrent prirent leur petit déjeuner et se préparèrent pour aller au travail. James dit au revoir à sa femme et partie au travail. Il avait l’habitude d’aller au travail en voiture cela lui prenait 15 minutes. Après sa journée de travail il retourner chez lui content de retrouver sa femme. Il était alors 17 heures 30 minute. Il alla chercher le courrier et découvrit un mot et des photo disant : ta femme te trompe. En apprenant sa, il était hors de lui. Il attendit sa femme alors pour lui en parler. Ce moment était après le diner et il lui dit :
Chéri me trompe tu avec quelqu’un d’autre ?
Non pourquoi ?!
Parce que j’ai des photos regarde. Il lui donna les photos. Elle les regarda et sa tête changea

C’est alors qu’il s’énerva et attrapa sa femme et la tapa de toutes ses forces, elle s’évanoui. Monsieur Hopkins pris panique, alla chercher son pistolet et la tua. Il maquilla la pièce pour faire croire a un cambriolage. Et s’enfuit.
Le lendemain, le livreur de lait arriva il avait l’habitude de récupérer le lait au pied de la porte mais ce jour la il n’était pas la alors il toqua à la porte mais personne ne répondit pas alors il se décida d’entrer c’est alors qu’il découvrit un corps gisant de sang et une pièce dévasté. Il appela la police. Celle-ci arriva dans les minutes suivant. C’était l’inspecteur Jenkins qui était chargé de résoudre l’enquête. Il inspecta les alentours et pensa au cambriolage, il attendit l’enquête de voisinage. Son assistant arriva et lui dit :
C’est paula hopkins la morte qui était en couple avec james hopkins .Un couple sans problème et sans enfant
