Dear Mr and Mr Beckett
Frist of all i introduce myself, my name is Charles Wheeler, i'm one of the former partners of Andrew. Pardon my lack of scrupulousnes but i must feel compelled to write to you, in order to offer my deepest condolences and to clarify andrew's departure of our law-firm. It has been several days since i thought about writing this letter, since andrew's death i guess... Andrew was a brilliant and sucessfull lawyer, i met him in 1985, when he was a University of Pennsylvania law-school graduate. Given his impressive curriculum vitae , we absolutely didn't hesitate to hire him. As soon as he joined us , he showed a marvellous aptitude for this profession and steps by steps, as regards of his performance we decided to maked him Senior Associate. he also has assigned the most important case the firm has taken on. We truthly had confidence in him. Few days later, i heard a terrible news : Andrew Beckett one of the most well-known employee of the law-firm is an homosexuals AIDS patient. You have to trust me, i was astonished and i must felt betrayed, i couldn't expect that and i didn't know what to do. We were unwilling to keep him as a colleague for fear of losing clients. We were the largest corporate law firm in Philadelphia, we couldn't afford to have a gay HIV positive among ours lawyers. Therefore, we found a pretext and we promptly fired him, we get rid of him. He decided to sue the firm for illegal dismessal. I know all the difficulties he had to find a lawyer because of his disaese. Anyways, he has won the trial, but now it means nothing for me. I just feel terrible because he has passed his last days in a court instead of among his family or his friends... I know that this letter didn't give your son back and i don't want to talk yours into forgiving me, but take this letter as a proof of my sadness and regrets.
