voila c´est écrit ca
Interviewer : To come back to the domestic front, we occasionally have the impression when we watch newscast, that lot of importance is given to crimes that of a very local interest. a lady who has her bag stolen in the strees for example? Why do you think this kind of reporting is prevalent on the news waves?
Robert Wiener : Well in local news, which you have to differeenciate between national news, there´s an old saying "If it bleeds, It leads", and consequently in the racde for ratings, which after all bring advertising dollars, the more sensional news - it has apparently been proven - the greater the audience. the greater the audience, the more stations can charge for advertising. But as i say, you have to differentiate between local news and network news.
