Bonjour,

Watching the moods of your citizen is relatively simple, yet time consuming at first.

Some events can make a character sad without him disliking his job, like other characters dieing or eating food that is not liked by the character. If you find entries in the journal that relate to this, don't pay attention to the mood right now and check again later.

Once you find a character get unhappier every day, you might have to start overthinking his job.

Some things about your base can make a character happy as well.
I managed to entertain my citizens so that they do not need a job for a long time and still don't get sad, just by watching them for a few hours.
A character spends a lot of time walking around in your stations hallways, then some time sleeping, then some time eating - probably in your bar, then time working out, and then finally time doing his job.
So what pays off most is actually having neatly decorated hallways!
Civilians wander through them aimlessly, Security uses them for partols, other people just use them to get to the next workplace.. everyone benefits.

Second most important place is your bar. Eating, chatting, drinking, cooking and serving, refrigerator filling, all takes place here. Try placng the neon signs just behind your bars to keep your barkeepers happy. If they are, they will cook better and the food can improve the moods of everyone. If your barkeeps aren't "ecstatic" from that already, add plants left and right of the bar, those will affect both barkeeper and people having a drink at the same time. Still not enough? Add monitors! You want your barkeeps to be the happiest of them all, to spread the happiness.

It kinda pays off to let people switch jobs now and then, too.
My regular patterns are:
Miners & Builders - Technicians, helps keep them happy if you switch back and forth.
Botanists - Barkeepers, it needs some time to work out who prefers what.
Everyone - Technician, helps keep your base runnning and gives people that are overly bored something to do for a while. Remember to transfer them back here after a while.
Hint: If your security guys are trained technicians too, they can board a very damaged derelict and, by switching jobs, repair their way back out on their own after exploring it.
That's it
Well, I don't actually know what to say here anymore.
2013 is over in a heartbeat and I wish all of you a happy new year.
Support this game, give feedback to the devs in a useable manner.
Help the other players out a bit and well.. enjoy the game and don't forget to rate this! :)

Oh and if I forgot about anything, let me know.

Cheers,
Chris

Bonjour,

https://www.youtube.com/user/ClubSandbox

@orould33
