Gnilfauk :

Killer is one of my favourite One Piece characters, and also one of the most interesting characters. As a member of the Eleven Supernovas, he obviously must play some large part in the story.

Killer and Zoro share a number of similarities, including their inclination towards killing/violence, status as the only non-captain Supernovas, lack of an apparent position in their crew, a fighting style that includes blades, and the only two who hold no apparent Devil Fruit abilities.

We all know Zoro is important for being the First Mate of Luffy, and so being a Supernova seems logical, but Killer is different as for someone who we know very little about and is a swordsman has made a huge mark (a bigger mark than even Zoro considering their bounties) shows that Killer is certainly important.

He's also one of the infamous Kid Pirates. They are known to be strong and important with all their significant movements in the New World. Their strength and influence has also increased as their bounties have risen post-timeskip and established a base on an island. They were brave enough to go upfront and attack Big Mom's ships. They also well connected, as they are well aware of dealings within the underworld and are involved in their businesses.

Both Kid and Killer come from the South Blue, a place well known for some big infamous characters. Ace, Portgas D. Rouge, Bonney, Kid, and Killer come from the South Blue and we know they all end up playing important roles in the series.

I took the time to organize both Killer and Shiki together.

Fotor051022587.jpg

They both share nearly identical very long golden yellow hair. Their hair lengths are similar. They both share a nearly identical skin colour as well. They also wear interesting shirts, one with polka dots, the other in stripes which could be significant.

Fotor0510230217.jpg

They are also exceptionally strong physically, and they are both very experienced and master swordsmen/ They also share a very identical golden goatee and long golden hair.

Shiki was able to kill a mountain of Marines before getting captured. He was also able to fight on par against Roger, and later, it took both Garp and Sengoku in their prime to capture him alive. Shiki is incredibly strong and powerful. They both use two swords too. Shiki even later used two swords as his feet.

Shiki and Killer are extremely fearsome and bear great resemblances.

Even the manga colour scheme for Shiki looks very similar to Killer.

Shiki was known as the "Golden Lion", and if Roger had a kid, Shiki would be sure to as well, like a lion cub. This cub is Killer. Killer was known as the "Massacre Soldier" which is very significant.

"Massacre" is described as the unnecessary, indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings or animals, as in barbarous warfare or persecution or for revenge or plunder. This is something Shiki was shown to do at Marineford to all those Marine soldiers. Killer bears an epithet of massacre which means Killer is well known for his massacres.

"Soldier" is defined as a person who contends or serves in any cause . We don't really know Killer's cause. It could possibly be his hatred towards the World Government for what they did to his father. Killer could possible have been a Marine soldier at one point, maybe with Kid and now they despise them greatly, but that could be a whole different theory. Killer does have a reason for becoming a pirate, joining Kid, and going against the World Government though.

Before the age issue gets thrown out there, we know Ace was 20 years old when he died (pre-timeskip) and Killer was 25 (pre-timeskip).

Roger was 50 years old when he was executed. Twenty two years after his execution, as Whitebeard was about to die, he revealed to the world that Roger's treasure, One Piece, is real and inferred the consequences of what would happen once it was discovered. Whitebeard was 72 years old when he died.

72-22= 50

Roger must have made Ace at least a few years or more before being executed. Also, Shiki is from Roger and Whitebeard's era, in which case he would have a nearly identical age to them and so could have very well had a son.

An interesting fact to also notice is that Killer is from the South Blue, which I am certain ironically Killer was born in Baterilla.

Baterilla is an island in South Blue. It was said that Gol D. Roger was acting less like a pirate and more like a father while on the island and the World Government searched the island for any signs of his child. Portgas D. Rouge lived here and gave birth to the infant that she would name "Gol D. Ace."

This is very ironic considering that the Pirate King, Roger, himself acted like this only in this place. I assume this place must be very important and significant if even Roger sidetracked and became a father here. Shiki in some form of destiny most likely also had a son which happened to be born in South Blue in Baterilla. This would be the only logical place where Shiki too would be less like a pirate and more like a father.

During the Post-War Arc, Killer is seen in the New World with the rest of the Kid Pirates on a rainy island. When Kid read the newspaper about Luffy ringing the Ox Bell and asked about it, Killer explained the significance to his captain.

This shows us that Killer is a very informed individual who seems to know everything that's happening all around the world.

During the events surrounding Punk Hazard, Killer is shown to be watching the same video Den Den Mushi broadcast as Kid, commenting on how his captain was not suited to be a broker.

Killer in a sense seems to be the most intelligent and informed member of Kid's crew, but yet he is not the captain. Killer knows loads of hidden information too. Killer also speaks on behalf of Kid several times, almost like the brains and strategy behind this crew. Shiki was also well known for his elaborate plans (even those that take 20 years). Attacking Big Mom's ships could very well also be a part of his ultimate plan.

Leading Kid away to one of the main rooms, he warns the other to be civil before entering the room. Discovering the place a mess due to Scratchmen Apoo, while Basil Hawkins was shown waiting patiently at the table, both Apoo and Kid quickly start a fight while Hawkins wearily comments on wanting to leave. Calming the others down, Killer then reveals their intention to create an alliance with the On Air and Hawkins pirates.

Also, it was Killer's plan and idea to make the alliance with Hawkins and Apoo in the first place. He also cares for his captain's feelings about it and so he calms him down and explains. As the brains of the crew, his planning skills are well shown numerous times. Killer is very similar to Shiki in many ways including their mutual interests in building alliances with other pirates. Shiki attempted to make alliances with both Roger and Whitebeard during his infamous days as a legendary pirate. Killer now has an alliance with Hawkins and Apoo which is very similar considering they both organized unique alliances to benefit themselves.

Shiki seems to look a few years older than Roger, most likely 5 years, the same age differential between Killer and Ace.

As great of an irony, it would be, both Roger and Shiki could have theoretically had a son near the same time five years and one month later.

Ace was born January 1st, while Killer was born on February 2nd which is already incredibly ironic already.

The Marines were not significantly after Shiki anyways, and it was only after Shiki was outraged after hearing of Roger's capture and his massacre at Marineford that the Marines took special notice to send Garp and Sengoku to fight him which led to his imprisonment at Impel Down. The Marines were absolutely terrified of the idea that Roger could have had a kid and so they spent nearly all their time investigating and looking for any suspicious locations where Roger acted differently. This led to their suspicions of Roger having a son on Baterilla. During their paranoid search for the potential son of Roger, they would not have paid attention to the fact that a 5 year old kid that looked like Shiki existed there. Also, considering Shiki escaped Impel Down, the Marines also had a slight fear of Shiki still being on the loose somewhere, but they were not looking for any kid he would have made as their primary focus was to kill Roger's kid before its too late. I will now go into why Killer wears the mask.

Why does Killer wear the mask?

It was one of the questions that intrigued me about Killer in the first place. Other than the question about what's behind the mask, I was wondering why does he wear it. Common suggestions is to hide a scar, but to me, it seems like he's hiding an identity.

Other than the clear irony, Shiki has a steering wheel lodged into his head, and Killer wears a mask showing they both have some sort of headwear.

Killer wears the mask to hide his identity. The Marines were on the loose specifically on Baterilla frantically searching for Roger's son. In their search, they would be bound to stumble upon a 5 year old kid who bears great resemblances to Shiki, and so his mother in result must have given him this mask (or maybe Shiki himself gave it) in order to protect Killer's life. It could even be possible his mother was killed, and he was adopted by someone who sees his clear resemblances with Shiki and worried by this would have given a mask to protect this young child's life and named him "Killer" for his father's reputation and his mother's death.

Oda drew Killer as a child:

An interesting detail to notice is his significant golden yellow hair growth at this age. Not only this, but Oda chooses to cover his eyes which means there must be some extremely significant importance in those eyes ("Hawk Eyes" most likely). Other than this, we see similarities between Shiki. Presumably, if young Killer was to have looked like this and was to be spotted by the Marines, he would have been caught and executed to prevent the next generation of Shiki to impact the world. To protect him, at around age 5, he would have been given this mask in order to protect his identity and was given a deep but simple name that does not give suspicions to the Marines. This same Killer chooses to wear the same mask to this day (with even more hair overflowing it) in order to protect his identity and to hide his true identity to the World Government on just who he really is, his background, and who his father actually is. His bounty would be exceptionally higher if they knew who his father is and for strategic purposes, he chooses not to reveal even after becoming this strong because he knows he is not strong enough to be beat the strongest people yet.

This also means Killer and Ace were both born on the same island on South Blue, both have fathers being legendary pirates from the old era too. Killer wore the mask to protect his identity as a child when the Marines were focusing their investigation on this island and knew this young child would be caught.

To add to the irony, it would be interesting if Kid is the son or younger brother of Shanks, in which this would prove to mean that some of the next generation pirates have backgrounds connected to the legends of the old eras.
