Greg: The color cover for the one-shot collection JUMP NEXT SPRING 2013. You might have seen this and yes, you might even have realized it was drawn from Luffy's viewpoint. But did you know why Luffy *probably* wasn't included in the image?
If you search through One Piece color images you'll soon realize that it's extremely difficult to find color spreads or covers without Luffy. Oda had a specific reason for not including Luffy and the reason is likely because a chapter of One Piece doesn't actually appear in the magazine. That's right, since Luffy represents what One Piece essentially is, by not including him, Oda might have decided that he wasn't falsely advertising the series if he didn't include him.
However, if you go back far enough, when One Piece was still in its infancy, Oda *did* draw Luffy on the cover of a one-shot collection magazine. Good to know he's changed and matured along with his series.
