Voila les quelques commentaire des concepteur de Duke forever qui s´explique sur la longueur de l´attente ( pour ceux qui comprennent l´anglais):

posted 01-10-2003 10:37 AM

There are some common topics you should avoid, or else your thread could be deleted or locked, and you will think we´re mean, evil, forum Nazi´s. But you´ve been warned. Proceed and you´re likely to be eaten by a grue.

===

  • Release Date : " When it´s done". Simple as that. Also, ignore ALL release dates unless you hear them from us. This includes EB, Amazon or anywhere else. We will tell you when it´s getting really close, and we will tell you when it´s done. We promise.
  • " What´s taking so long?": Lots of things. We had too few programmers early on. Some tech took too long to do. We switched engines. We started over a time or two. And a bunch of other stuff. Point is, we know it´s late, and you know it´s late. Let´s stop talking about it, ok?

We´re not going to debate development with you. Our job is to deliver the best game we can. Your job is to buy it or not, based on many factors. We don´t have to listen to you telling us how we´re doing everything wrong, in the process We´re old and stuck in our ways, and you won´t change our minds, so just accept that.

  • System Specs : They are going to be steep. You will need a video card with pixel shaders. A GeForce 3 will be about the minimum card, and ideally you will want something like the latest ATI or nVidia card. Sure, the game will probably run on a GeForce 1/2, but you´re not going to want to.

As for CPU? The more the better. A 1Ghz is a pretty slow machine these days, and you´re probably going to want a 2 Ghz or better. DO NOT buy hardware for the game now. Wait until it´s done and see where things are then.

  • New shots or videos : When will we release some? When we´re ready. Asking about it every other day isn´t going to help and it isn´t going to hurry us. We know people are curious, and we´re excited at the prospects of showing you new stuff, but not right now. Please don´t ask. Just be patient.
  • Don´t start threads about locked/deleted threads : They were locked or deleted ofr a reason. Reasons that have been clearly stated.
  • Please don´t ask " Will Feature X be in DNF?" : There are a lot of thread where people ask if a specific feature will or will not be in the game. We´re really not going to confirm/deny specific gameplay/design questions. There are several reasons for this. First, things change over time and you never know what feature will make it. Second, why would we spoil the game by detailing all the nuts and bolts of it? There is something to be said for discovering things when you play.

Here´s a few other things that get asked over and over again, and really do not need to be asked anymore. If you really want to read about them use the search button, and look for them. Don´t start new threads, they will likely be removed:

  • Console ports: The decision on what to port DNF to has not been made, despite what you might have read anywhere. It won´t be made until right around the same time DNF has been released for the PC. Why? YOu can´t port something that isn´t finished! As for what consoles? Again, that decision won´t be made until later - however, the Xbox is the leading candidate because of it´s internal architecture. Others - don´t know. Although I´d tend to doubt the Gamecube, because we wanted Max Payne there ( Max has lower requirements than Max did), and couldn´t make it work.
  • Co-op Mode: There won´t be any. There won´t be any in an addon, either. There´s been an excessive amount of threads posted about co-op. Find one of them and read it.

Also, if you have found that a post of yours is missing, take the time to make sure it really IS first.

There are other forums here besides Duke Nukem Forever, and it´s possible that it´s just been moved to another forum. Go look in the other forums first before complaining that your post is gone. ALso, if it violates one of George´s rules above, as he said, it´s likely to be removed.

Also, complaining in public about " Where did my topic/post go" will also be removed. There´s a link at the bottom of every page called " Contact Us". Please use that for administrative purposes such as this.

Make sure and read the Official DNF FAQ before asking any other questions, too.
