Default UPDATED Official update thread: what we're up to (17.08.11)
August 17th, 2011
Hi guys,
So, right now we’re working very hard on the downloadable campaign Rise of the Samurai, which we’ve been working on for a while now. We’re currently getting it to the point where it’s nicely polished and good fun. I’ve been playing a Hiraizumi Fujiwara campaign , rubbing up against the Kamakura Minamoto clan on a regular basis.
If you’re interested, the Hiraizumi Fujiwara clan start with two provinces (Miyagi and Iwate) and receive the following bonuses:
• Skillful inspectors (+10% success chance for junsatsushi actions)
• Constabulary force (-20% cost for junsatsushi actions)
• Resolute officials (+5% boost to tax income)
• Developed government (rice loans art already mastered)
Over on the other side, we’re getting to a nice point with our large patch, which we’re going to deploy alongside Rise of the Samurai in September.
On that note, our map designers haven’t been sat on their hands either. Keen to jazz up Shogun 2’s map selection even more, they’ve been hard at work on some brand new content… which we’re going to release for free with the patch in September (note, you won’t have to buy the DLC to access this!)
We’re including a total of 11 brand new maps for skirmishing against the AI or playing online. They’re designed with competitive play in mind, so are largely flat and balanced. There will be two versions of each map available – one with key buildings and one without.
Here’s the full list of maps, with some brief descriptions and screenshots to give you a quick idea of what to expect:

In other news, we’re still looking at the Sengoku Unit Pack DLC Heavy Gunners tweak, too. We’ve fixed the penetration code, so the unit doesn’t have an exploitable advantage - but we’ve done it without nerfing the unit’s stats much. Those who know and love the unit will still recognise it, but the opportunity to general snipe has been diminished. That update will be released in the coming days, most likely.
And that’s it for this week’s bumper update. See you next week!
Thanks,
CraigTW.
