14/04/2004. Le Liverpool FC s´apprête à donner un grand coup de balais dans son effectif cet été, que les Reds parviennent ou non à se qualifier pour la Champions League.

De nombreux joueurs seront ainsi invités à quitter le club, au premier rang desquels les Sénégalais El-Hadji Diouf et Salif Diao. Les deux joueurs, arrivés après la Coupe du Monde 2002, ne se sont pas imposés sur la durée à Anfied.

Diouf, acheté à Lens pour 15 millions d´euros, et Diao, arrivé en provenance de Sedan moyennant 7M€, pourraient dès lors retourner dans le championnat de France où leur cote reste élevée. Liverpool ne devrait pas se montrer trop exigeant vu la conjoncture actuelle.

Par ailleurs, un autre joueur menacé est l´international anglais Emile Heskey. Le robuste attaquant des Reds devrait rejoindre Middlesbrough pour laisser place nette à Djibril Cissé.

Enfin, Markus Babbel et Gregory Vignal ( actuellement à l´Espanyol de Barcelone), devraient également quitter définitivement le club.

13/04/2004. Le milieu de terrain de l´Udinese David Pizarro pourrait se diriger vers la Juventus cet été. Son agent s´apprête à rencontrer les dirigeants turinois pour évoquer un possible transfert.

" Je vais rencontrer jeudi le directeur général Luciano Moggi", a déclaré l´agent. " L´Udinese est d´accord pour vendre Pizarro et il faut veiller à ce qu´un accord avantageux pour toutes les parties soit trouvé."

Le remplaçant de Pizarro à l´Udinese serait le meneur de jeu argentin de San Lorenzo, Leandro Romagnoli, dont la venue avait été évoquée au PSG, à l´OM et au Werder de Brême au cours des dernières saisons.

" Ils ont décidé de remplacer Pizarro par Leandro Romagnoli. Je dois m´assurer que le départ de mon client se fera dans les meilleures conditions", a ajouté l´agent.

" Je vais commencer par discuter avec la Juve, mais je n´oublie pas non plus que l´Inter est également demandeur", a-t-il précisé.

Lyon qui vient de laisser filer Deflandre, Dhorasso et peut-être Müller serait sur la piste d´Abidal.

Fernando Redondo is looking increasingly likely to leave Milan in the summer, with Tottenham the latest club to show an interest in the Argentinian midfielder, according to sources in Italy.
The precociously talented South American has had a dreadful experience in Italy after sustaining a serious knee injury just a few days after joining the Rossoneri in the summer of 2000.

As his contract is due to expire this June, it is unlikely Milan will offer a renewal, and Bolton Wanderers were also linked with a move for the 34-year-old during the January transfer window.

Redondo, formerly with Real Madrid, has been dubbed one of the most gifted players of his generation, and is also a man of some stature. Such was his dismay at missing two seasons of football in Milan that he agreed to greatly reduce his salary.

He is now fit again but has been unable to hold down a regular place in the Serie A leaders´ line-up and is poised to quit Italian football.

Reports in Italy claim Spurs are interested in Redondo and, although there have not been any concrete negotiations, it is predicted that official contact could be made in the near future.

" England? Why not?" he was quoted as saying last month when asked about his future destination.

The playmaker is perhaps best remembered by English supporters for an impudent piece of brilliance that left Henning Berg grounded as he teed up a goal for Raul when Real Madrid knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League in 2000.

Indeed, he was voted Uefa´s ´Most Valuable Player´ for the 1999/2000 campaign.

INTER TARGET GUNNERS CAPTAIN

Italian giants Internazionale have targeted Patrick Vieira as a man who can restore the club´s fortunes next summer - although they face a tough task in signing the Frenchman.
Inter´s miserable season has shown no signs of abating, with exit from both the UEFA Champions League and the Uefa Cup, and a disappointing domestic campaign.

Vieira is viewed as a player that can have the necessary impact on the Inter side - but the Arsenal captain is highly unlikely to leave Highbury.

The Italian media are suggesting that Inter will try to tempt The Gunners with money plus Sierra Leone striker Mohammed Kallon.

Arsenal are rumoured to have opened tentative enquiries into the young forward earlier in the season before a failed drugs test ended their interest.

Another potential player that could be used as part of the deal is Dutch star Andy van der Meyde - who has expressed his desire to leave the Milanese club after finding himself unable to capture a regular first team place.

Vieira has already played in Italy - for Inter´s rivals Milan - but his time in Serie A was far from happy.

Defender Patrick Collins has spent the last week training with Celtic after being told that he can leave Sunderland.

The Oman-born, England Under-19 centre-back was told by Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy that he will not have his contract renewed when it expires at the end of the season.

According to reports emanating from the Dutch media, Premiership club Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven for midfielder Mark van Bommel.
The much sought-after anchorman has attracted interest from a host of European clubs but David O´Leary has perhaps now stolen a march on the player´s other suitors.

The Midlands club, currently enjoying somewhat of a rennaissance, are now set to undergo talks with the talented Dutchman.

Earlier this month the player had been earmarked for a move to Bundesliga club Schalke - with the player´s agent confident that his client would sign for the German side.

However, there were complications over the transfer fee and Villa may now have leapt ahead of Schalke for the player´s signature.

Tottenham are the other English side to be strongly linked with van Bommel and they too have reportedly agreed a fee for the PSV skipper.
