Le milieu de terrain brésilien Emerson Moises Costa, qui jouait à l´Atletico Madrid, a signé un contrat de deux ans en faveur des Glasgow Rangers.

Emerson avait été dans un premier temps annoncé à Wolverhampton mais un désaccord entre le joueur et le club espagnol à propos d´un différend financier avait fait échouer le transfert du Brésilien, qui devait s´engager pour 800.000 livres ( 1,15 millions d´euros).

Agé de 31 ans, Emerson ( 1,83 m, 82 kg), qui avait été recruté par l´Atletico Madrid après un passage au Deportivo La Corogne ( 2000-2002), a passé une dernière saison en demi-teinte et les dirigeants de l´Atletico ont préféré le placer sur la liste des transferts pour engager l´Argentin Diego Simeone à son poste.

Emerson est destiné à remplacer le milieu de terrain écossais Barry Ferguson, transféré vendredi à Blackburn.

L´Olympique lyonnais a officialisé vendredi après-midi les transferts du défenseur Jérémie Bréchet à l´Inter Milan, pour 4,7 millions d´euros, et du milieu de terrain Philippe Violeau à Auxerre pour 400.000 euros.

Bréchet a signé un contrat de quatre ans avec le club intériste alors que Violeau s´est engagé pour deux ans avec l´AJA.

Lazio have strengthened their attack with the purchase of Roberto Muzzi for 3.2 million euros ( $3.50 million) from Udinese, the Serie A club said in a statement on Friday.

The Rome-based side, who qualified for the group phase of the Champions League by beating Portuguese side Benfica on Wednesday, had been looking for an extra striker to reinforce their squad before the league season starts on Sunday.

The 31-year-old striker scored just five times last season, but provided good support for Udinese´s leading scorer Vincenzo Iaquinta -- a role he could fill for Lazio playing behind Italian international striker Bernardo Corradi.

Lazio also announced the sale of midfielder Christian Manfredini to Serie B side Fiorentina for an undisclosed sum.

Le prêt de Carew, 23 ans, qui a conduit Valence à un titre de champion d´Espagne et à deux finales de Ligue des champions, ne comporte pas d´option d´achat. Selon Valence, le salaire du joueur sera entièrement à la charge de la formation italienne.

Chelsea have signed Spurs´ Scottish goalkeeper Neil Sullivan.
The 33-year old joined the Stamford Bridge club on a two-year contract on Friday after passing a medical.

Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri said on the Chelsea website: " With Champions League football this season we need three fit goalkeepers and I am delighted that following the unfortunate injury to Jurgen Macho, we have been able to find another keeper of good quality to give us three once more."

Sullivan will compete with Italians Carlo Cudicini and Marco Ambrosio for the Chelsea goalkeeper´s jersey.

" Dalmat close to Boro switch"

Middlesbrough are close to completing the signing of Stephane Dalmat on loan from Inter Milan.
The Teessiders have agreed to take the French midfielder on loan until the end of the season.

Dalmat, who has still to agree personal terms, joined Inter in 2001 from Paris St Germain but has not been a regular starter and made only 15 league appearances last season.

A statement on the Italian club´s official website, said: " An agreement has been reached between Inter and Middlesbrough for the transfer on loan of Stephane Dalmat.

" The French midfielder has yet to agree personal terms with the English club."

Deportivo Coruna say they have reached an agreement to loan Paraguay midfielder Robert Acuna and former Yugoslav international defender Goran Djorovic to second division Elche.

The Galician side also announced on Saturday that 39-year-old Cameroon goalkeeper Jacques Songo´o, who helped Depor to the league title in 1999-2000, would be returning to the club.

Both Acuna and Djorovic are looking to recapture their form after injury problems hampered their progress last season.

Acuna, who joined Depor from Real Zaragoza for $9.9 million at the start of last season, underwent surgery to deal with a persistent groin injury last April and has played just seven league games for the club.

Djorovic has been plagued by injuries since joining Depor from neighbours Celta Vigo in 2001 and has made only 11 league appearances in two seasons.

Depor play their first game of the new season against newly promoted Zaragoza on Sunday.

Leeds have completed the loan signing of Milan defender Roque Junior, according to reports.

The Brazilian defender has told the Italian media that he has put pen to paper on a season-long deal after successfully completing a medical on Saturday.

The deal was too late to allow him to make his debut at Middlesbrough, but despite winning the World Cup and Champions League in the past two seasons, Roque Junior believes Leeds and the Premiership are the right move.

" We have closed the negotiations," he said. " This will be a very important chapter in my career.

" The English championship is great. I have been through the medical examination and signed the contract. I know my manager and he is a great person."

Peter Reid is also expected to complete the signing of Cameroon midfielder Solomon Olembe in the next few days.
