13/05/2004. Selon Marca, le Real Madrid devrait enregistrer lundi la signature du défenseur argentin de l´AS Rome, Walter Samuel. Les Madrilènes doivent affronter la concurrence de Chelsea, mais le club merengue semble avoir la préférence du joueur.

Un accord aurait été trouvé entre la Roma et le Real sur la base d´un transfert de 15 millions d´euros. Chelsea aurait proposé 25 M€, mais la décision finale devrait revenir à Samuel.

Le RC Strasbourg, qui cherche à recruter un gardien de but pour être aux côtés de Richard Dutruel, l´actuel titulaire, s´intéresse au Monégasque Tony Sylva. Âgé de 28 ans, celui-ci a successivement été la doublure de Fabien Barthez, Stéphane Porato et Flavio Roma. Il compte 24 apparitions en L1 depuis 1999.

Toujours du côté de Strasbourg, Pascal Johansen, le milieu de terrain de Marseille, pourrait revenir en Alsace. Il a déjà joué au club entre 2000 et 2002. Fabio Celestini ( Marseille), Jean-Joël Perrier-Doumbé ( Auxerre), François Sirieix ( Auxerre) et Daniel Cousin ( Le Mans) seraient aussi susceptibles de rejoindre le club strasbourgeois.

Robinson seals Spurs move

Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson has completed his £1.5m move to Tottenham.
The 24-year-old England international signed for Spurs on Friday and said: " I am happy to be a Tottenham player."

Robinson almost moved to White Hart Lane for £2.5m in January but Spurs´ plan to loan him back to Leeds went against Premier League rules.

He said: " It was difficult for me during the transfer window because Leeds are close to my heart, but I am very happy to be here now."

Tottenham´s January swoop for Robinson collapsed because Premier League rules stipulate that clubs cannot pay for a player in advance of them joining their new team.

Robinson said he did not know who his new manager would be, adding: " I am happy to play for any manager - hopefully someone will be in place soon and then we will all know who he is."

Leeds chairman Gerald Krasner said: " We are very pleased with the deal for Paul and we wish him every success at Tottenham. Despite reports to the contrary it was the best offer made for him.

" None of the top four Premiership clubs were interested or had an opening for him, so the market was very limited regardless of his enormous talents."

Krasner also claimed Robinson was " the highest paid goalkeeper in England" and added: " We have made no secret that the wage bill at the club has to come down."

Blues clinch Heskey deal

Heskey has scored 12 times for Liverpool this season
Birmingham have signed Liverpool striker Emile Heskey for an initial fee of £3.5m, which could rise to £6.25m.
The England striker, who was on Monday named in Sven-Goran Eriksson´s squad for Euro 2004, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Heskey was Liverpool´s record signing when he joined from Leicester in 2000 for £11m, and he has scored 60 goals in 277 appearances for the Reds.

He will partner Mikael Forssell, on loan from Chelsea, at Blues next term.

Everton boss David Moyes has confirmed that he has decided against making Francis Jeffers´ loan move from Arsenal into a permanent deal.
Moyes has also announced that Scot Gemill, Nicolas Alexandersson and Paul Gerrard are being released.

Villa snap up Laursen

Laursen is a regular for Denmark
Aston Villa have agreed a fee of £3m for AC Milan´s Danish centre-back Martin Laursen.
Laursen, who will be in Denmark´s squad at Euro 2004, will sign a four-year deal subject to a medical.

The 26-year-old defender has been out of favour at the San Siro since Milan signed Alessandro Nesta two years ago.

But Laursen, capped 33 times by his country, remains a highly-rated player and has been linked with a number of other Premiership clubs.

Villa boss David O´Leary wants to strengthen his squad this summer after narrowly missing out on a Uefa Cup spot this term.

Laursen will become his first capture ahead of the new campaign and his fourth since joining the club - following Danish compatriot Thomas Sorensen, Gavin McCann and Nolberto Solano.

O´Leary has also released veterans Dion Dublin and Ronny Johnsen this summer.

Laursen began his career with Silkeborg before moving to Italy with Verona, Parma and then Milan.

He made 25 appearances this season for Milan - 12 as a substitute.
