That´s according to United chief executive David Gill, who believes Queiroz will bring out the best in his fellow Portuguese. The teenager was one of the few highlights for United during a disappointing season by their high standards and he inspired the Reds to victory in the FA Cup Final. Ronaldo also enjoyed a great Euro 2004 with Portugal and Gill feels he will continue to blossom under the experienced eye of Queiroz following his return for a second spell as Sir Alex Ferguson´s right-hand man.

QUEIROZ TO HELP RONALDO PROGRESS

Manchester United chief executive David Gill feels Cristiano Ronaldo will only benefit from the return to Old Trafford of Carlos Queiroz.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has brought Queiroz back to the club as his assistant manager, after the Portuguese coach´s unsuccessful year at Real Madrid.

Queiroz had a positive impact during his first stint with United and Gill is expecting more of the same upon his return.

Gill particularly believes that Queiroz´s comeback will prove to be a major influence in helping his teenage compatriot Ronaldo to become an even better player.

" We´re delighted with the return of Carlos Queiroz," commented Gill.

" If you speak to Alex he is over the moon, to use a football phrase, about that particular acquisition.

" Both the manager and players will benefit from Carlos returning next season. He has the benefit of having that European flavour with him and he speaks four languages.

" He will particularly help Ronaldo. Look at him, he´s 19, he´s had a fantastic first season but I´m sure he will benefit from having a Portuguese assistant manager working with him."

Gill also acknowledged the whole United squad is happy that Ferguson has drafted Queiroz back in to the club´s coaching set-up.

He continued: " I have spoken to Ruud van Nistelrooy and he´s delighted he´s come back. He benefited from his time with Carlos.

" Alex was scouring Europe and speaking to everyone about who would make a good right-hand man, so to get Carlos back was great."

Smith Pulls On The New United Shirt

The 23-year-old striker, who signed from Leeds for £7million in May, has been in pre-season training this week with the rest of the United squad as they prepare for their USA Tour.

Smith´s cross-Pennine switch was an emotive subject for both sets of fans when the transfer was announced six weeks ago.

It may seem slightly bemusing to see Smith in the red of United when fans are so used to seeing him in the white of Leeds.

But, as the striker admitted when he first joined, he is committed as a Manchester United player.

" Obviously it´s been a difficult one because of the cross-Pennine divide and the hostility between the two sets of fans," Smith said after completing the move from Elland Road.

" But from a personal point of view, and purely for football reasons, Manchester United was the club I wanted to come to. I feel they can offer everything I want as a footballer and hopefully help me develop and win trophies along the way."

je vous avoue etre inquiet . . parce qu´a une exception pres heinze on va aligner la méme equipe qui a fini 3eme a 15 points d´arsenal.

l´année derniére MU a livrer un jeu pauvre techniquement et en créativité...

et cet année rien n´a changer.

Scholes, keano et giggs ont un an de plus...

je ne pense pas que smith reglera nos problémes de créativité . ...

au final on a la méme équipe que l´année derniére celle qui a manquer de génie, de créattivité, de technique . .

celle qui avait du mal a se créer des actions. Et ce n´est pas la suspension de ferdinand qui nous as empecher de marquer contre les wolves, fulham . ...

non franchement je suis inquiet car aucun joueur susceptible de changer le jeu de MU est arrivé.

et je pense que ronaldo ne sera encore pas titulaire.

Donc finalement on a quasi la méme equipe que l´année derniére et on se souvient du mal que l´on a eu . .

le match de chelsea me reconfortera ou m´inqueiter encore plus . .

on verra bien mais bon si fletcher explose cette saison ce qui est très possible on devrait mieux s´en sortir et avec scholes et giggs qui vont retrouver leur niveau ainsi que solsk et ruud on va se retrouver avec une très bonne equipe sans compter l´arrivée de rosicky mais là je m´egars un peu... ^^

je crois oui mais les prblemes de l´année derniére ne vont pas se regler comme par magie non plus

on a recruté queiroz et di salvo c des magiciens... ^^
