UEFA ANNOUNCE CL SEED CHANGES
Arsenal and Manchester United will again be amongst the top seeds for next season´s UEFA Champions League - but Chelsea and Liverpool are likely to be in the second tier.
Although Manchester United will have to play a two-legged qualifier to gain entry to the first group stage of the tournament, the Red Devils´ history in the competition means that they will be seeded to avoid the four Spanish team and reigning champions Porto.
Arsenal are also included in the top tier, but Chelsea - who got to the semi-finals and picked up the second automatic qualifier spot in England - have been hit by Uefa´s new seeding system.
The European body have added weight to an individual club´s performances in the competition rather than looking at whole nations - meaning Liverpool, who will also have to qualify - will be in the second pot.
Scottish sides Celtic an Rangers will be in a third group.
Should any one of the three top group seeds yet to qualify, not manage to win their play-off, the seedings will shift.
United, Deportivo La Coruna and Real Madrid are all yet to seal their place in the tournament, but will join Valencia, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Porto in the first pot if they do.
Chelsea and Liverpool´s probable grouping includes Milan, Roma and Internazionale from the Italian Serie A.
Uefa have also announced that they will seed the qualifiers, which could hand British clubs matches against smaller sides.
Bonne nouvelle ^^

GILL KEEPS TABS ON SUCCESSORS
Manchester United chief executive David Gill has revealed the club are constantly keeping tabs on coaching talent for when Sir Alex Ferguson retires.
The vastly experienced Scot came close to calling it a day two years ago when he announced plans to quit at the end of the 2001/02 season.
But Ferguson performed a U-turn to remain at the Old Trafford helm and he has subsequently added another Premiership and FA Cup success to his trophy haul.
When Ferguson initially indicated he would abdicate the Red Devils throne, the list of potential replacements for the long-serving boss was seemingly endless.
The likes of Sven Goran Eriksson, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Fabio Capello were all mooted as possible successors.
More recently, the names of Steve Bruce and Steve McClaren have been floated as replacements for Ferguson when he finally retires.
United supremo Gill acknowledges the club are consistently monitoring the performance of managers across the continent and admits there is a contingency plan in place, should Ferguson make a surprise decision.
However, Gill also warned that those currently being mentioned as Ferguson successors may not necessarily be contenders when the time comes to appoint a new Old Trafford chief.
" We do ( have a contingency plan) but it´s a difficult process," Gill told the club´s official website.
" It´s not like a normal business where you can groom a number two internally because it´s not always feasible.
" I think Liverpool were the best example of that in the Seventies and Eighties. Since then, it´s been a bit more difficult.
" And then quite rightly there are rules about targeting managers who are doing jobs with other clubs.
" As and when Sir Alex decides to retire, I am sure there will be no shortage of applicants.
" We keep our eye on the managers coming through but whoever the hot star is today maybe a cold star tomorrow.
" We just monitor it and make sure we´re aware of developments in European football management."

Roon set to quit for Spain
Wayne Rooney is prepared to leave England if he can join one of football’s giant clubs. Real Madrid’s newly re-elected president Florentino Perez said he fancied signing the Everton whizkid. There were growing whispers that Roon, 18, might not move to Spain because of his age. But a source within the Rooney camp insisted: “Wayne is not scared of the idea. He has said he will go wherever is best for him - and if it’s Madrid, then he’ll jump at it.” Rooney would still prefer a move to Manchester United - but they have failed to make an official approach to Everton.

Rooney agent in Real denial
Wayne Rooney´s agent has denied claims he met Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to discuss a move to Spain. Everton´s 18-year-old striker is pondering a £50,000-a-week five-year deal to stay at Goodison Park. But Real have been linked with Rooney and it was reported Paul Stretford had flown to Madrid to sound out Perez. But a spokesman for Proactive responded, saying: " Despite erroneous speculation, Paul Stretford has never in his life met Mr Perez."

United hire fitness guru
Manchester United have hired top fitness coach Valter di Salvo to join Sir Alex Ferguson´s Old Trafford backroom team. The 40-year-old Italian, who worked with returning Red Devils assistant boss Carlos Queiroz at Real Madrid last season, was criticised by David Beckham for the England skipper´s lack of fitness during Euro 2004. Beckham though appears to be in a minority when assessing di Salvo´s skills.
