New signing Liam Miller is delighted to finally be a Manchester United player.

The Irish international midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement with the Reds in January, and remained a Celtic player until July 1.

In an exclusive interview with MUTV, Miller said: " It´s great really. I was looking forward to it but obviously I had a bit of time to go at Celtic but it´s great to finally be here.

" I was just being professional and seeing it out, and looking forward to the new start really.

" It´s going to be exciting here and I´m definitely looking forward to it. I can´t wait to meet the lads. They´re world class players. You can learn from them and I´m hopeful that I will.

" Playing for United will be a great feeling, having supported them as a boy."

Miller has played with John O´Shea in youth internationals, and recently started alongside Roy Keane for Brian Kerr´s senior side.

Liam said: " It was nice to meet Roy, and I knew John O´Shea already from the youth squads. It´s nice to come here knowing a few people and have a few familiar faces.

" I´m looking forward to the games and also looking forward to training which starts back on Sunday. I´m looking forward to getting back in the swing of things."

RADZINSKI URGES ROO TO LEAVE

Tomasz Radzinski is set to lose even more popularity with Everton supporters after urging Wayne Rooney to follow him out of the Goodison Park exit door.
The Canada international, who has one year left on his Toffees contract, has rejected the club´s latest three-year offer and looks certain to depart the Merseyside club.

Not content with turning his back on the Premiership club and seek pastures new, the Polish-born striker believes Rooney should also leave to further his career.

Rooney´s reputation in Europe increased ten-fold during this summer´s European Championship and he is currently one of the most sought-after talents in world football.

" Wayne is the future of the club and so I understand why they have done it [offer a lucrative contract], but it´s a bit disappointing that they have offered him a deal while I have been kept waiting," explained Radzinski to the Daily Mirror.

" I don´t think it´s a good place to be at the moment because next season we will be fighting another relegation battle when good players want to be testing and improving themselves by playing in Europe.

" I want to be playing in a club in Europe or challenging for a European place while Wayne should be playing for a top club in the Champions League.

" Wayne has shown in Euro 2004 that he can play at the top level and I think he needs to move on to further and better himself.

" My feeling is that Wayne will definitely move and I hope he´ll go somewhere where he can improve and grow as a player and sadly I don´t think that is Everton."

c encore plus fort quand c un coéquipier de rooney qui le dit.

Don´t stab us in the back
Everton fear that Wayne Rooney´s delay in committing himself to a new contract signals his intention to engineer a cut-price move away from Goodison Park. Their fears deepened last night as sources close to Manchester United - the club Rooney is most keen to join - suggested they are set to put on hold their move for the England striker until the January transfer window at the earliest. And if United wait until next summer to make an offer, Rooney will have just 12 months left on his contract and his valuation will have dropped.
Richard Tanner, Daily Express
Everton fury over Wayne
Everton are preparing to tell their rivals: Put up or shut up about Wayne Rooney. Goodison bosses are growing annoyed at what they consider a dirty tricks campaign to prise him from Merseyside. No club has been given permission to talk to the most wanted man in Europe and no official approaches have been made to Everton.
Phil Thomas, The Sun

Kiss off
Everton striker Tomasz Radzinski launched a blistering attack on manager David Moyes and advised England´s teenage sensation Rooney to join a bigger club this summer. Radzinski, 30, said: " Wayne is the future of the club and so I understand why they have done it but it´s a bit disappointing that they have offered him a deal while I have been kept waiting. I don´t think it´s a good place to be at the moment because next season we will be fighting another relegation battle when good players want to be testing and improving themselves by playing in Europe. Wayne has shown in Euro 2004 that he can play at the top level and I think he needs to move on to further and better himself. My feeling is that Wayne will definitely move on and I hope he´ll go somewhere where he can improve and grow as a player and sadly I don´t think that is Everton."

Dutch drop Ruud appeal

The KNVB have dropped their appeal against Ruud van Nistelrooy´s two-match suspension.
Van Nistelrooy was punished by Uefa last week following his outburst at referee Anders Frisk after Holland´s Euro 2004 semi-final defeat to Portugal.

The Dutch were prepared to lend their support to the Manchester United marksman by appealing against Uefa´s verdict.

But after learning Uefa were ready to make a counter-appeal, which could lead to van Nistelrooy being banned for more games, the KNVB have scratched their initial complaint.

Instead, the Dutch are prepared to swallow the punishment which will see van Nistelrooy suspended for the opening two World Cup qualifiers in the autumn.

Van Nistelrooy will be banned for the game against Czech Republic in September and the clash with Macedonia in October as Holland start out on the road to the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

ruud va avoir droit à ces 2 matchs de repos c pas une mauvaise nouvelle pour nous ça...

GILL ADMITS UTD MAY BE SECOND BEST

Manchester United chief executive David Gill concedes the club may have to learn to play second best to moneybags Chelsea in the transfer market.

Last summer´s purchase of The Blues by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich significantly altered the shape of the transfer market.

With seemingly limitless resources, Abramovich sanctioned a £100 million-plus spending spree 12 months ago in a bid to turn Chelsea into football´s pre-eminent force.

While Claudio Ranieri enjoyed the fruits of Abramovich´s labour last season, this term new coach Jose Mourinho will savour the benefits of the tycoon´s fortune.

Petr Cech, Paulo Ferreira and Arjen Robben have all arrived at Stamford Bridge so far, while a deal has been agreed to bring Mateja Kezman to the club from PSV Eindhoven.

This willingness to splash the cash puts Chelsea´s Premiership rivals in the shade and Abramovich´s impact is not on lost on United supremo Gill.

In the case of Robben, United were in pole position to sign the young winger before The Blues flexed their financial muscles to land the Dutch international from PSV.

Gill acknowledges this is a scenario that United, and the team´s supporters, may have to get accustomed to due to Chelsea´s happiness to pay any sum they want to secure a target.

Though Gill admits The Red Devils are not short on financial clout, their determination to remain on a firm fiscal footing means they cannot match Chelsea´s spending power.

Instead, Gill feels the onus is on the Premiership giants to identify alternative targets, rather than become embroiled in a bidding war with their London counterparts.

" Manchester United, over the years, has always been a club with the ability to spend large amounts of money in the transfer market, on players like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rio Ferdinand," Gill told the club´s official website.

" We do have the power and the financial muscle to compete effectively in the transfer market but, let´s be honest, if we´re up against Chelsea and they desperately want a player, they will probably outbid us.

" But they can´t get every player. In a straight fight with them, we may lose out.

" That´s why our ( scouting) network needs to be good so we can identify the other player. If they ( Chelsea) have got their number one priority, we can go for the other guy."
