REDS TO MAKE ANNOUNCEMENT
Liverpool have revealed that they will be making a ´major announcement´ at a press conference to be held at Anfield on Monday afternoon.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding The Reds recently, with the futures of both skipper Steven Gerrard and star striker Michael Owen uncertain.
The club captain has been strongly linked with a transfer to Chelsea in the English press, with many believing that he has already agreed on a mega-money move to Stamford Bridge.
His England team-mate Owen´s future is also uncertain, although it is now believed that he is ready to sign a new contract with the club.
New boss Rafael Benitez has been doing his bit to try and persuade the duo to remain on Merseyside, with his appointment a sign of the club´s ambition to be back amongst the Premiership title challengers.
Liverpool have not given any hint at what the major announcement will be, or if it involves one of their top two stars, but it is expected that chief executive Rick Parry will reveal the news.
A further possibility is that it could finally see the end of the proposed investment in the club from Thailand.
Thai media group Grammy is now looking to inject some fresh cash into the club, and it could be that a deal has been decided one way or another on Monday.

GERRARD STAYING AT LIVERPOOL
Liverpool have announced that Steven Gerrard has committed himself to the club for the coming season - despite high-profile interest from Chelsea. The midfielder revealed that he had thought seriously about leaving Anfield but, on his return from England action in Euro 2004, the Reds captain has made it clear that he is 100 percent focused on leading the Merseysiders forward. The latest meeting with chief executive Rick Parry brought a positive response from Gerrard, who will be playing under a new manager next season in the shape of Rafa Benitez. " I´d like to say the last three or four weeks have been very confusing for me," stressed Gerrard. " I´ve been involved in a major tournament and that´s the reason why I´ve been really quiet about my future. " I haven´t been happy with the progression of the club in the last three or four years, as I´ve made clear in the media, and, for the first time in my career, I thought about the possibility of moving on to a different club. " But, after coming home from Euro 2004, sitting down with my family and also asking Rick Parry for a fourth meeting in two months, and having time with my agent, close family, dad and girlfriend, I´ve decided I´m staying on at Liverpool. " I am 100 percent committed to this football club. " A lot of things have been going through my head, and I will admit the possibility of leaving was one of these, but I´ve gone with the decision that was in my heart. " I love the club and the supporters and that´s what it boiled down to at the end of the day." Parry also insisted the decision was purely down to the player. " It´s very important that Stevie has the opportunity to explain his decision to our supporters," he stated. " I´ve said many times that we didn´t want to sell Stevie and would do our utmost to persuade him to stay but this is his decision through and through. " He´s made the decision with his heart."
O´SHEA HAS KNEE TREATMENT
Manchester United defender John O´Shea could miss the start of the side´s pre-season preparations after undergoing minor knee treatment.
The Republic of Ireland international has been struggling with a knee complaint for some time.
United decided to send the player away to have it looked at and he has undergone an arthroscopy on his left knee.
The injury is set to keep the versatile defender on the sidelines for three to four weeks.
It means O´Shea is in danger of missing United´s tour of the USA next month.
si on a pas heinze, o´shea et fortune ya plus grand monde pour occuper le poste de def gauche.
Barca keen on Luque move
In what looks likely to be a busy pre-season in Spain, Barcelona could swoop for Deportivo La Coruna´s Albert Luque - with a €5 million fee being proposed.
The Catalan giants are keen to land the Spanish international and could be given a green light to mount their bid, should Deportivo succeed in their pursuit of Wolfsburg´s diminutive Argentinian star Andres D´Alessandro.
However, Barca may choose to delay a deal until they have finalised the futures of Ricardo Quaresma and Luis Garcia, as both players have been subject to transfer speculation.
Barca´s sports director Txiqui Beguristain was in Germany last week, which has fuelled speculation that the club could be ready to bid for German star Michael Ballack.
The Spanish giants enjoyed an improved season last time out and will be aiming to land the title in the forthcoming campaign, having already added talented Monaco star Ludovic Giuly to their ranks.
Barcelona are thought to be keen to land Luque on a five-year deal, with the player to earn €3 million per season.
pas cher luque a 5 millions c presque donné.
ouais ils ont pris une claque chelsea . ..
luque c´est pas cher c´est sur . ....

Reds hold three aces!
Manchester United are holding most of the aces in the chase for England star Wayne Rooney but will resist cashing in on Ruud van Nistelrooy to land the star. Chelsea still have the major card up their sleeve in the form of an unlimited supply of Roman Abramovich´s cash to soften the blow for reluctant sellers Everton. But United today told M.E.N. Sport that selling Ruud van Nistelrooy to rake in cash to fund the purchase of the £50m 18-year-old hitman is out of the question. The club said that stories claiming the Dutchman would be sacrificed in a £30m deal to Real Madrid were " absolute rubbish."

et voila ça ce confirme ruud ne partira pas.
