Ronaldo boost for Man Utd

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo will not miss the first game of next season after a red card was reduced to a caution.
Ronaldo was sent-off by referee Rob Styles against Aston Villa in May for two bookable offences.

The first yellow card for diving has been rescinded, although the second booking for time wasting still stands.

The decision means Ronaldo, who is with the Portugal squad for Euro 2004, will be available for the season opener.

There is continuing speculation on the soccer grapevine that Ferdinand will leave United this summer with Chelsea a favoured destination but Sir Alex says there will be NO departures from Old Trafford.

One name for the future is close to agreeing an Old Trafford deal with the Reds close to signing 17-year-old Barcelona starlet Gerard Pique.

Pique, captain of his national youth team, is available after a contract row with the Camp Nou outfit, and appears to have rejected both Arsenal and Chelsea in favour of United.

Annoncé à Barcelone l’été dernier et sur les tablettes du Real Madrid et de Valence depuis quelques semaines, Gabriel Heinze doit finalement s’engager en faveur de Manchester United. L’international argentin, attendu à Paris dans la journée pour finaliser son départ, devrait signer pour un montant proche de 9 M€.

Gabriel Heinze vit ses dernières heures en tant que joueur du PSG. Annoncé à Barcelone l’été dernier et sur les tablettes du Real Madrid et de Valence ( un échange avec John Carew était ainsi évoqué) depuis quelques semaines, le joueur devrait finalement s’engager en faveur de Manchester United. L’international argentin, attendu à Paris dans la journée pour finaliser son départ, devrait signer un contrat de cinq ans pour un montant proche de 9 M€. Heinze était sous contrat avec le PSG jusqu’en juin 2006, où il était arrivé à l’été 2001 en provenance de Valladolid.

RUUD RULES OUT DUTCH RETURN

Dutch star Ruud van Nistelrooy has ruled out a return to Dutch football when his contract expires at Manchester United.
The prolific striker, who is currently is preparing for Euro 2004 with Holland, revealed the attitude of the Dutch fans had made him change his mind about ending his career in his homeland.

Van Nistelrooy had planned to finish off his career at former club PSV Eindhoven when his contract at United expires, but now he insists he will quit in 2008.

" The attitude of the Dutch fans is terrible," fumed van Nistelrooy.

" They call you all sorts of things from the stands.

" I detest that kind of behaviour and it has no place in football. That´s why I will quit altogether in the summer of 2008 when my contract at United ends.

" When I left PSV Eindhoven for United, I was sure I would return as a player for the final years of my career.

" But by then I will be 32 and people will be expecting miracles. And there is also lack of respect in Holland.

" That´s why I won´t go back there to play."

Ruud: We´re Building For The Long-Term

Ruud van Nistelrooy believes it is short-sighted for people to believe that United´s poor season means the team is in decline.

United´s disappointing season has instigated stinging criticism and suggestions that the team is in decline, Ferguson´s empire beginning to crumble.

But van Nistelrooy refuses to accept this notion, describing criticism of Sir Alex as " laughable".

" When I arrived we won nothing in my first season and everyone said it was a crisis. The following season we were winners again and the critics were quickly silenced.

" The manager is not looking for success in the short-term. He is going to build a team capable of winning the League and the Champions League for some time."

The team will, however, come under strain to show signs that the rebuilding work is making progress.

But Ruud says the criticism of Ferguson is unjust. He added: " It´s laughable that people criticise the manager. Most of them haven´t got a clue what they are talking about.

" He´s a fantastic manager and no manager can win the title every season, you have to let someone else enjoy the moment."

si on a une autre recrue ça devrait etre au milieu je parie sur gerrard, van der vaart ou rosicky.
sinon on recrute pas et on fait monter eagles.

la il y a du defi physique quand méme . ..

ben il est international anglais quand méme . .

maintenant il y a aussi o´shea , brown . ...

quand tu pense que ya o´shea et brown en remplaçant ça fout les boules. on devrait avoir une belle defense si ya pas de blessures.

je pense qu´o ´shea sera titulaire et neville remplacant

c´est clair que c´est solide comme defense . .

heinze va pourvoir laisser trainer les coudes en angleterre . ..

gary neville est pas mauvais et il nous a rendu plein de services et de plus il a fait parti de notre defense de fer du debut de saison.

je suis pas sur que neville soit sur le banc je pense que fergie veut garder un joueur d´experience sur le terrain. sinon je pensais à brown pour occuper le flanc droit.
