Carlos Queiroz´s coaching career:
• 1 March 1953: Carlos is born in Nampula, Mozambique
• 1989 and 1991: Leads Portugal to successive World Youth Championships
• 1991 to 1994: Manages Portuguese national team before moving to Sporting Lisbon
• 2002: Coaches South Africa to 2002 World Cup qualifcation
• June 2002: Joins United as assistant boss
• June 2003: Becomes head coach at Real Madrid after just a year at Old Trafford
• June 2004: Rejoins Reds as Fergie´s assistant
Opinion: Queiroz makes the right move
Manchester United is pleased to announce the return of Carlos Queiroz as Assistant Manager with effect from 1 July 2004. Carlos has signed a 3-year deal that will see him at the Club until June 2007.
Carlos Queiroz said, “I feel proud and happy with my decision. It is a commitment to Manchester United where football achievements and ambitions fulfil my personal professional goals. I would like to express my respect and gratitude to the Board and Sir Alex Ferguson for the trust and confidence they have given me with this amazing and renewed opportunity. It is an honour for me to share the dreams and expectations of all Manchester United fans.
Sir Alex Ferguson said, " I am delighted to have Carlos back, I was sad to see him last year leave but understood his reasons for doing so. Now he has experienced new challenges and he can bring those new experiences with him. He is a terrific coach and he made a marvellous contribution the year we won the league. The players and staff respected him and will be pleased to see his return"

Carlos is a committed, experienced and innovative coach who built up some great relationships with the coaches and players, as well as being an integral part in the 2002-2003 Premiership winning campaign.
