PSG SUPREMO WARNS UNITED OVER HEINZE
Monday 31st May 2004
Manchester United have been warned not to dally in their pursuit of Paris Saint Germain defender Gabriel Heinze.
PSG president Francis Graille claimed on Friday that he has been in discussions with the Premiership giants regarding a deal for the Argentine international.
Heinze, who has previously attracted Chelsea´s interest, is being tipped to become United´s second signing since the end of the season following the acquisition of Alan Smith.
But Graille has informed The Red Devils not to take too long to reach an agreement with PSG regarding a transfer fee.
Valencia are also keen on Heinze and, while acknowledging United are in pole position, Graille insists they should not delay in fixing up a deal.
" Nothing is done today but if Manchester United pay what we ask, yes, we are on the right way," said Graille.
" However, United´s officials had better hurry up because we have other contacts with Spanish clubs.
" We know what he ( Heinze) wants, we know they have found an agreement but it does not mean a lot.
" Manchester is not a priority over other interested clubs."
The two clubs spent the bulk of last summer bartering over a price for Ronaldinho and United will be keen to avoid a sense of d¨¦j¨¤ vu after losing out to Barcelona for the Brazilian
