Cristiano Ronaldo knew he had done his job when Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson hailed the Portuguese wonderkid’s FA Cup heroics. Ronaldo, who only turned 19 earlier this month, was instrumental in helping the Red Devils beat Millwall 3-0 in Cardiff on Saturday. And the winger revealed the sense of pride he felt as he walked towards Ferguson after being substituted with six minutes to go. Ronaldo, a £12.2million signing from Sporting Lisbon last summer, said: “I was saluted by Alex Ferguson when I was subbed and that made me very happy. It is a big compliment that my manager and team-mates say so many good things about me. And I hope to repay them by playing more good games and helping the team to achieve our goals.”

Ron: Now I want title
Cristiano Ronaldo has his eyes on the Premiership title after helping Manchester United to FA Cup glory. Ronaldo, who scored the first in the 3-0 triumph over Millwall, said: “To win the Premier League is my No 1 objective. " I have won my first trophy with United. I have already achieved a lot of the things that I want but it is not enough. I want more and more. While I’m happy to have contributed to our cup victory I am still sad we didn’t win the Premiership.”

Skills left Ryan in daze
Shame-faced Robbie Ryan admits he was so humiliated by Cristiano Ronaldo that it was a relief when he was substituted. The Millwall left-back was given the biggest run-around of his career by Manchester United’s Portuguese winger. Ryan said: “I have never played against anybody like that in my life and I was so pleased to be taken off. At the start of the season, I thought Ronaldo was OK — but in the last couple of months, he has turned into a world-class player. At times, I thought he was taking the mickey and showboating, but that is just his natural game."

We´re Cup ´n running
Roy Keane has ordered his Manchester United team-mates to get back to the top of English football - and quick. The last champagne cork had only just popped in the dressing room following Saturday´s FA Cup final victory over Millwall when United´s skipper set his targets for next season. Keane, 32, roared: " The sign of a great team is how they bounce back and I want us to bounce back to the top of the game. It has been nice to finish the season on a high with the FA Cup but our priorities are the Champions League and the Premier League.

Alex Ferguson has won a Champions League, eight Premierships and five FA Cups. Yet he celebrated this success as if he had never lifted a trophy in his life. Maybe it was the relief of finishing a traumatic season on and off the field with something tangible in his hands. For Fergie this was the ideal response — a nice big silver pot with ribbons on.

Dennis Wise was warned if he carried on pinching Manchester United players, referee Jeff Winter would “do a Vinny Jones” on him. Winter took charge of his 265th and final game in Cardiff. He said: “I couldn’t have picked a better occasion to finish on. There was no major controversy, only one yellow card and, if I’d written the script at 2.55pm, I don’t think I could have dreamed up anything better. There was a bit of a flare-up with Dennis Wise and Ronaldo. Allegedly, Wisey picked up Ronaldo from the ground and nipped him under the arm. It’s one of Dennis’ party tricks. I told Dennis that if he kept nipping players, I’d do the same to him — do a Vinny Jones and nip him somewhere painful. That had him smiling."

Roy´s keen on Andy
Andy Marshall left Cardiff with an endorsement from Roy Keane — and an eye-opening lesson in football. The Millwall keeper brought the Millennium Stadium to its feet with a world-class save from Manchester United skipper Keane and another from Paul Scholes. Marshall still conceded three goals and saw another couple cleared off the line. But he said: “It was an honour just to be on the same pitch as United’s players — we were beaten by a far superior side. Marshall added: “Keane congratulated me on my save, which was nice, and they showed us a lot of respect."
