United to hand Rio new deal
Manchester United have held talks about extending Rio Ferdinand´s contract until 2009. England defender Ferdinand, currently serving an eight-month ban for missing a drugs test, will improve his £60,000 a week deal which runs out in three years.
United are Evra-ready
Manchester United want to sign Monaco´s talented left-back Patrice Evra for £6m. The 22 year old has played in every Champions League game for his side this season as the French club look set for their first final after this week´s 3-1 victory over Chelsea in Monte Carlo. Contact has been made with his representatives and Starsport understands that Evra would welcome a summer move to United.
Hoops aiming for Gunnar
Manchester United are bracing themselves for a summer swoop from Celtic for striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Scottish champions want him to replace Henrik Larsson, who is leaving at the end of the season. Solskjaer would be available for about £3m but it remains to be seen whether Fergie would be willing to sell the 31-year-old in the summer or wants to give him more time to see if he regains his full fitness.
