Reds goalscorer Gary Neville has praised Cristiano Ronaldo´s efficiency in adapting to the English game after again standing out for United in the 1-0 win over Leicester.
Like the second half of United´s season, the match against Leicester proved to be a frustrating, and at times scrappy affair but, true to recent form, Ronaldo provided some of United´s finest football.
Not an easy task for a 19-year-old still adapting to English football, says Gary.
" It was a big price-tag and he is only 19 years of age," says Gary. " To come to a foreign country and adapt the way he has, it has been incredible. He´s a very good player.
" He´s very confident. He always wants the ball and dribbles at players and makes it very difficult for them. Ian Walker had to make a lot of good saves from him tonight."
The slender victory over struggling Leicester failed to conjure an exciting performance from Ferguson´s side, a problem Gary attributes to footwear.
" The first half was a really poor performance, I think a few of us had our boots on the wrong feet. We just didn´t get going and didn´t keep the ball very well. Second half, we created a lot of chances and Cristiano caused them lots of problems."
Neville´s strike early in the second half was the Bury-born defender´s first Premiership goal for three years - Gary scored the first in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on 20 January, 2001.
" It´s not often I´m the match winner," Neville told Sky sports. " But, it was an important win for us because we need to get as close to Arsenal to get second place. It wasn´t the greatest performance from us, but we got there in the end.
The victory means United are now three points behind Chelsea, with a game in hand and still to play the Blues.
" We don´t want to be in a position where we are qualifying for the Champions League next season. We want to try and get as far up the league as possible, and obviously get near to Arsenal. We don´t want Arsenal to win by that many points."
