03/04/2004. FIFA have given Real Madrid 30 days to hand over £19 million to Inter in the ongoing row between the two clubs.

On August 31 2002 Ronaldo moved to Real in exchange for £23 million plus £7 million the following January or Santiago Solari.

The Argentine could not agree terms with Inter, and the Nerazzurri requested the cash instead.

The Spaniards argued that Inter had deliberated offered Solari a low wage, thus forcing the player to give up the move.

But their appeal was rejected, and Fifa have now deemed that Real must hand over the £7 million, plus the remaining two instalments of Ronaldo´s original fee and five per cent interest. All in all, £19 million.

Foot - C1 : Silvestre de retour

Le défenseur international français de Manchester United Mikaël Silvestre, victime d´une entorse à une cheville le 21 février, devrait effectuer sa rentrée, mardi, lors du match retour des 8e de finale de la Ligue des champions contre le FC Porto.

«Cela se présente bien, je devrais reprendre l´entraînement en fin de semaine et devrais être prêt pour recevoir Porto, et peut-être avant», a expliqué Silvestre sur la chaîne du club, MUTV.

Il est même possible qui l´international français soit rétabli pour recevoir Fulham, samedi, en quart de finale de la Coupe d´Angleterre.

Ruud van Nistelrooy wants a first team start
Manchester United´s Ruud van Nistelrooy was reportedly " surprised and disappointed" to be rested at Fulham.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was heavily criticised for leaving his leading goalscorer out of the 1-1 draw.

And it was reported on Friday that Van Nistelrooy told friends he was unhappy at Ferguson´s decision and discussed the situation before the game.

He will be restored to United´s line-up for the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Ferguson´s decision was backed by Ryan Giggs, who was also left out at Loftus Road.

He said: " I know that the manager has been criticised by some people for leaving myself and Ruud out of the starting line-up, but the gaffer knows best.

" When he has changed things in the past it has normally worked, so it´s easy to be critical in hindsight.

" All players want to play in every game, but I respect the decisions that are made."

Another defensive injury

Quinton Fortune left Carrington on crutches yesterday and is
unlikely to play against Fulham tomorrow. However there is
also some good news, Tim Howard has recovered from his
stomach strain and will be fit, “It wasn´t a big issue and
I´m feeling fine now,” Howard told MUTV. Even better news is
that Silvestre expects to make his comeback on Tuesday
against Porto. “It is looking good,” Silvestre told MUTV. “I
am looking forward to training again at the end of the week.
I should be fit for Porto, maybe even before.”

Manchester United´s youth team take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in the Sixth Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Having beaten Rushden & Diamonds, Man City and Norwich in the preceding rounds, Brian McClair´s side travel to Blackburn to continue the defence of the team´s Youth Cup crown.

Blackburn pose arguably United´s toughest test so far in the competition, but Brian McClair remains hopeful of his side´s potential to keep a grip on the trophy United have won nine times previously.

Manchester United is considering plans to improve further and develop facilities at Old Trafford, including an additional 7,500 seats, increasing the capacity of Old Trafford to around 75,000.

A feasibility study is underway to evaluate the technical, financial and planning issues on completing the North East and North West Quadrants of the stadium and consultation on these issues will now commence.

Any decision to proceed will be taken by the board in due course and announced thereafter.

Le club anglais de Manchester United étudie actuellement l’agrandissement de son stade fétiche, Old Trafford.

Le « théâtre des rêves » comme l’appellent les Mancuniens peut accueillir 67 500 spectateurs et les Red Devils y jouent souvent à guichets fermés. Les dirigeants de Manchester United envisagent de porter la capacité du stade à 75 000 places. Ce projet entre dans le cadre du programme de développement et d´amélioration des infrastructures du club.
