L’avenir du jeune prodige anglais d’Everton, Wayne Rooney ( 4 buts cette saison), fait pencher la bourse britannique. Selon les tabloïds anglais, Manchester aurait proposé près de 36 millions d’euros à Everton pour accueillir le jeune attaquant international ( 4 sélections) de 18 ans. De son côté, Roman Abramovich, le magnat de Chelsea, serait aussi sur les rangs afin de proposer une surenchère. Moyes vows to keep Rooney
David Moyes has vowed to keep Wayne Rooney at Everton — despite Manchester United and Chelsea lining up big-money bids in the summer. The Goodison Park hero, 18, is being tipped to move to Old Trafford at the end of the season, with United boss Alex Ferguson ready to pay £25million. Ferguson was hugely impressed with the England striker’s display in his side’s 4-3 win over Moyes’ boys a fortnight ago. And several senior United stars urged him to home in on Rooney. Yet Moyes insisted: “Wayne is a good player and people are entitled to say things about him. But I have always stated he is not for sale and unless the board are saying something I don’t know, they agree with that as well.”

Man Utd ´chase Pellegrini´

Pellegrini is highly-rated in South America
Manuel Pellegrini is being lined up to become Sir Alex Ferguson´s number two at Manchester United, reports say.
The Chilean coach is believed to be interested in a high-profile role in Europe since quitting his post at Argentine side River Plate last season.

" Manuel has been invited to send his CV to Manchester United," said Pellegrini´s agent Luis Incera.

Ex-United player Mike Phelan is acting as Ferguson´s number two but will not be considered long-term.

Phelan, who is also a first-team coach, took on extra responsibilities after Carlos Queiroz left Old Trafford to take the helm at Real Madrid.

Pellegrini has won the Argentine title with San Lorenzo and River Plate and is nicknamed ´The Engineer´ because of his qualification outside football.

Ex-Manchester United stalwart Denis Irwin has warned his former Old Trafford colleagues to shape up or kiss goodbye to their Premiership crown.
The veteran full back, now battling for Premiership survival with Wolves, has watched with interest as his former employers have struggled defensively in recent weeks.

The United rearguard have shipped ten goals in their last four league outings after losing Rio Ferdinand to his eight-month ban.

In that time The Red Devils have lost valuable ground to Arsenal in the title race, and Irwin feels that they must tighten up at the back or give up hope of reeling in The Gunners.

" Life is tough at the top and United´s defenders have got to step up soon," declared the 38-year-old.

" A whole season´s work could go down the pan in the next three weeks if they don´t tighten up.

" You can´t go on hoping to score one more goal than you concede in every match - eventually you´ll get caught out and there are big games on the horizon that United simply can´t afford to lose.

" The defence is missing Rio Ferdinand and too much has been asked of Wes Brown too soon.

" United will work their way through what has happened in the last few games, but it has certainly cost them valuable ground in the title race.

" Five points is a really big gap to close on an Arsenal team that is playing really well.

" Arsenal haven´t lost in the league this season and are bound to have a sticky patch at some stage.

" But the question is whether United will be close enough to take advantage when Arsenal do hit trouble."
