United´s reserves triumph over Liverpool
United´s reserves overcame Liverpool´s second string last night thanks to a late strike by Danny Nardiello.
4,830 fans turned up to watch the local rivals clash at Chester´s Deva Stadium.
United were kept at bay for long periods of the game by an outstanding performance from Liverpool keeper Chris Kirkland.
The England keeper made important saves from Kieron Richardson, Eddie Johnson and David Bellion while at the other end United´s defence kept the Liverpool attack at arm´s length for the majority of the game.
Bellion also missed a headed chance on the day when his tribunal saga was finally resolved.
The breakthrough for United came two minutes after Roy Carroll had superbly denied Darren Potter.
15 minutes from full-time, Phillip Pickens and David Jones combined to set up Nardiello, who finished brilliantly to give United all three points.
