Ayala keen on Man Utd
Ayala has been linked with Liverpool
Valencia defender Roberto Ayala has issued a " come and get me" plea to Manchester United.
The Argentine international has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks but insists Old Trafford would be his preferred destination.
" I turned down Liverpool because my opinion is that if I leave Valencia it will be for a bigger club," said Ayala.
" Manchester United are different. They are the kind of club that interest me a lot.
" If they came in it would be impossible to say no - I think I would be a success there."
United are currently short of defensive options with Wes Brown and Gary Neville out injured.
They also lost Laurent Blanc and David May in the close-season and manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he would ideally strengthen his defence before the transfer window shuts on 31 August.
But chief executive Peter Kenyon has played down speculation that they would bring in new players before the end of the month.
