Forlorn Forlan
Diego Forlan apologised to his Manchester team-mates after committing what will go down as one of the worst misses in football history. The Uruguyan missed an open goal from less than six yards after a defensive mix-up from Juventus left him with the easiest chance he will ever have in his career. All Forlan had to do was walk the ball into the net but somehow the 24-year-old, who took 27 games to score his first goal for United, screwed his shot into the side netting. Afterwards, the £7.5million striker tried to play down the embarrassing 89th minute miss, but admitted he had no idea why he had managed to mess up such a certain chance to score. " I have to try to treat it as just another missed chance," said Forlan. " I have to say to myself ´So what?´ and then move on."
