" Keane rejects retirement talk"
Manchester United captain Roy Keane has played down talk that this season could be his last as a player at Old Trafford.
The Irish midfielder, who will be 32 next month, was dogged by a hip injury last season that sidelined him for four months.
And he was thought to be ready to quit at the end of this season, two years before the end of his three-year contract, if there is a recurrence of the problem.
" I hope to to carry on," he said last weekend. " I will see how this season goes, but the next two or three...I am not so sure."
However, the Irishman now insists he plans to see out his contract.
" All I told them is that I´m hoping to carry on for another few years, and the next thing I hear, I´m quitting," Keane told Manchester United´s website.
" It´s all been blown out of all proportion. Everyone needs to relax, chill out a bit.
" It´s been quite annoying for me, as everywhere I go, people ask me if I´m quitting and all this nonsense."
