Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will hand a debut to Tim Howard against Juventus in an attempt to solve his goalkeeping dilemma.

American international Howard signed for United from the New York/New Jersey MetroStars in July and will face a fight for the number one jersey.

Fabien Barthez, who was dropped towards the end of last season, has been United´s first-choice keeper since 2000, but Roy Carroll and Ricardo have been selected on the US tour.

" Tim has shown his agility and quickness in training, he´s settled in very well," said Ferguson.

" He will play on Thursday. It´s an opportunity for him. There´s an opportunity for all the keepers here."

" My impression was that he had settled down, everything had gone quiet and there was no problem," Ferguson added.

" Seba is a marvellous player and he is contracted to us. It is going to be difficult for a deal to be done tomorrow. He will be playing for us."

" We´ve got until 31 August if we want to sign anyone but I´ve withdrawn all my interests at the moment to let things settle.

" The players have shown that little changes here, things go on and they´ve been doing really well."

On a pas de vrai millieu droit et beck n´a pas vraiment ete remplacé . Si veron part la on va le droit a la cata . Mais bon si fergie dit que ca va comme ca c´est qu´il a ses raisons . Mais je contiinue a penser que l´été a été foiré . Bon en avant kleberson , bellion , howard , fletcher . ... Manchester depend de vous maintenant . Siils sont aussi talentueux qu´on le dit ca ira . Mais l´argent de bek n´a pas ete tres bien employé je trouve . Vicvement la reprise .
