Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that he is ready to fill David Beckham´s place on the right side of United´s midfield next season.

The Norwegian striker took to the flank to great effect last term, and believes that he´ll be able to do another good job in Becks´ absence next season.

" I have grown into a more mature player who can perform different roles," he said while on the USA Tour.

" I know now what positions to take up. I am just trying to work on my game and improve myself in the roles I am asked to play.

" Last season was the first I have played on the right. I have played there for Norway before, as well as on the left.

" I have taken bits and pieces of my experiences of playing in the position for Norway and brought them to my game with United."

Former African Footballer of the Year George Weah was handed a US$1.6m cheque by Manchester United in New York on Tuesday.
The Liberian legend received the money in his capacity as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children´s Fund ( Unicef) at a ceremony at UN headquarters.

The English Premiership champions recently launched Unicef´s three-year campaign to end child exploitation.

Gary Neville is set to miss the start of the Premiership season after sustaining a hamstring injury on Manchester´s United´s US tour.
The England defender was due to fly home on Wednesday for treatment and is likely to be sidelined for three weeks.

Neville underwent a scan after picking up the injury in United´s opening tour match - 4-0 victory over Celtic in Seattle last Tuesday.

He is likely to miss United´s opening Premiership match against Bolton, as well as England´s friendly against Croatia four days later.
