" Pair raise Man Utd stake"
Man Utd´s biggest shareholders JP McManus and John Magnier have increased their stake in the club.
The Irish racecourse magnates, through their investment vehicle, The Cubic Expression company, now own 11.4% of the Premiership champions, the club said on Wednesday.
They previously held a 10.37% shareholding in the club.
" Manchester United has today been informed that The Cubic Expression Company has increased its holding in the company and now holds 29,612,396 ordinary shares representing approximately 11.4 percent of the issued share capital of the company," United said in a statement to the London Stock Exchange.
The club´s shares fell nearly 4% last week after a report that the two Irish tycoons, close associates of team manager Alex Ferguson, might sell their stake.
Shares have since risen 10% on the back of reports of interest from other investors and a possible takeover.
In recent months John de Mol, the Dutch media tycoon behind the Big Brother reality television series, and Malcolm Glazier, owner of Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers have bought shares in the club.
