Ronaldinho´s path to join Manchester United could be made clearer his club Paris St Germain close in on a possible replacement for the Brazilian.
PSG have been reported to have made a bid for Portuguese striker Pauleta whose club Bordeaux are likely to cash in on a player with just one more year left on his contract.

And, with United believed to have gone back to the French side with an improved offer which matches Real Madrid´s bid, they are again favourites to clinch the playmaker´s signing.

French newspaper L´Equipe reported that the Old Trafford side had upped their offer from £13.9m to £17m plus additional performance-related payments which would take the deal up to £24m.

Real are known to want Ronaldinho to stay at PSG for another season.

But the 23-year-old is not though to favour staying in Paris and the need for him to do so would decrease if PSG landed Pauleta.

" United supporters want more signings"

Reds fans believe Sir Alex Ferguson needs to delve further into the transfer market if United are to be ready to challenge for honours next season.

Even though the reaction from United supporters towards new-boys David Bellion and Eric Djemba-Djemba has been positive, ManUtd.com readers feel Fergie still needs to sign more players.

A staggering 86.6% of ManUtd.com readers think Ferguson must add to his squad before the season kicks off on 16 August against Bolton. With the players back at training tomorrow ( Tuesday), only 13.4% of poll voters feel the team is ready for the rigours of the new season.

The general consensus amongst ManUtd.com readers is that the future looks promising with the likes of Bellion and Djemba-Djemba now on United´s books. But it is also the commonly held opinion that a player with " immediate impact" is needed if United are to push for honours in Europe, and also retain the Premiership crown.

One reader emailed FanTalk to say: " With the signing of David Bellion on Tuesday and Djemba-Djemba on Thursday it´s a really exciting time at Old Trafford. But I still feel we need to sign a here and now player, someone who will make an immediate impact."

However, if press speculation is to be believed, United’s top two summer targets - PSG’s Ronaldinho and Leeds’ Harry Kewell - look destined to sign elsewhere. Real Madrid and Liverpool appear to be their respective destinations.
