=>I’ll be back to take on Liverpool, says Keane
Roy Keane has confirmed that he will be back to help Manchester United’s push for the Premiership title when they face Liverpool at Old Trafford a week on Sunday. The United captain has been missing since damaging his hamstring against Leeds three weeks ago but was close to returning against Fulham at the weekend. He said last night: “I thought I had a chance of making the Fulham game, but my hamstring was still a bit tight.”

Madrid happy to put their shirt on Becks deal
The seeds of Real Madrid’s move for David Beckham were sown exactly three years ago when Florentino Perez ran away with the presidential elections at the most successful club in football history. “In football terms I want us to emulate Ajax and in commercial terms I want us to copy and beat Manchester United,” promised the property and construction multi-millionaire. So what smarter move for Perez could there be than to try to strip United of their most high-profile asset?

=>encore une info sur l´admiration de dyer pour scholes !

"Schole in the hole"
Keiron Dyer took one look at Paul Scholes in training yesterday and realised he might as well accept his lot. He may be driving Newcastle on in the Premiership from central midfield - but, as far as England is concerned, it will have to be the left wing or nothing. The problem for the Toon terror is Manchester United star Scholes has his favourite position tied up. Dyer admits he still does not know how to do the left-sided job properly. But with England´s perennial problem back on the agenda, it will be up to Dyer to solve it against the minnows of Liechtenstein on Saturday. Dyer, 24, said: "People ask if I´m frustrated by not playing in my favourite position but my answer is that, after seeing Scholes again in training, he´s just on a different planet. When you´re talking about a football brain, he is so much quicker upstairs than any other England player."

" Carlos in Real plea "
David Beckham has been told by Roberto Carlos: Come and join me at Real Madrid. Becks is at the top of Real´s summer shopping list as they prepare to hit Manchester United with a £40million mega bid. The Old Trafford idol admits he is more than flattered by interest from the Spanish giants. And Brazil´s superstar defender Carlos said: "All the players here would love Beckham to come to Madrid next season and I hope the stories of his transfer are true."
Pat Sheehan, The Sun

"Mum´s word for David
David Beckham could become a mummy´s boy for a night following an amazing offer from Liechtenstein keeper Peter Jehle. The England skipper can stay with Jehle´s mum if he is too scared by the security fears overshadowing Saturday´s Euro 2004 Group Seven qualifier. Stopper Jehle declared: "If David is so worried, he could stay with my mum and she will be his bodyguard. He can stay at my house and my parents will make him very welcome. My mum is 53 but a strong lady. She is also a very good cook. Her apple strudel is absolutely delicious."

=> "Keane backs fellow Red "

United captain Roy Keane has tipped John O´Shea to be crowned PFA Young Footballer of the Year.

O’Shea is in the reckoning for the highly acclaimed award alongside Everton’s Wayne Rooney.

"Sheasy certainly has to be in with a shout," Keane said. "Wayne Rooney has been dynamic, whereas Sheasy has just got on with his job quietly.”

While Rooney’s entrance into the public awareness came with a bang – a stunning goal against Arsenal – O’Shea has plugged away notching up 43 appearances for United this season.

There is no doubting Rooney’s potential, but O’Shea has performed to a breathtaking standard both domestically, and on the European stage against some of the world’s best club sides.

One particular moment – a Cruyff turn against Juventus – sticks in Keane’s mind. He said "O´Shea has delighted United fans not only as an accomplished defender, but also by beating opponents with bursts of speed and little Cruyff turns.

"I think he´s actually a winger," Roy joked. "I don´t know about this talk of him becoming a midfielder - we have enough bloody midfielders! He can stay at the back.”

But Keane does see a bright future ahead for his fellow countryman, just as long as O’Shea continues the hard work that has seen a meteoric rise to prominence this season.

Roy added of O´Shea: "He does have two good feet and a good footballing brain, and hopefully the best is yet to come. He takes everything on board, you can see he listens all the time, and then just gets on with it.”

=> "Reds pick their les bleus favourite"

Reds fans from around the world have said that, given the pick of Fabien Barthez and Mikael’s Silvestre’s French team-mates, they would take Zinedine Zidane.

In a ManUtd.com poll, 39.4% of readers said they would like to see Zidane pull on the famous Reds strip.

Zidane will, of course, being running out at Old Trafford in April, but in the white of Real Madrid for the mouth-watering Champions League quarter final.

The voting shows just how much Zidane is respected in world football, and also the danger he poses to United’s hopes of claiming the European crown.

Arsenal’s Thierry Henry ended up with 30.9% of the votes, and he too could dent United’s hopes of silverware as he will line up for the Gunners against United in the crunch Premiership tie on 16 April.

Juventus striker David Trezeguet picked up 7.9% of the electorate in a distant third place.

"A meagre £30m for Beckham? Get Real"
Real Madrid may believe money talks when it comes to transfers but there is good reason for Manchester United turning a deaf ear to their apparent interest in David Beckham. As suspected from the outset, Real’s public courting of Beckham has more to do with mischief-making ahead of his Champions’ League visit to the Bernebeu next month than any serious intent to make it his permanent home.
Ian Ladyman, Daily Mail

"I will chew Becks up and spit him out"
David Beckham was last night warned by the hard man of little Liechtenstein that he is about to endure a personal ordeal that will haunt him for the rest of his career. Left-back Fredi Gigon vowed to "disturb" the England captain mentally and physically when the two sides meet in tomorrow night´s European Championship qualifying tie here. And as the Swiss Army erected a ring of barbed wire around the tiny Rheinpark Stadion, primary school teacher Gigon told Beckham he would have to negotiate some nasty barriers on the pitch, too. He said: "It is a massive challenge for me and all I can really do is try to disturb him and kick him as much as possible. I will do everything I can to make life as difficult as possible for him. From the start right until the final whistle."

=>la rumeur sur Dindane confirmee par Red Issue !

"A young striker was the reason

Belgian newspapers reported on Tuesday that United´s scouts
were watching Aruna Dindane of Anderlecht in their game
against Bruges.

Their report will most likely have been positive as he was
voted man of the match in a 5-1 victory over the league
leaders.

Our Belgian correspondent describes Aruna as a 22 year old
striker ( although he has played on the right hand side of
midfield) who is strong on the ball, a good dribbler and
quite pacey.

According to his coaches there is still a lot of room for
improvement in his finishing and passing. His current deal
runs out in 2004 but he´s yet to sign a new deal.

AC Milan are also reported to be keeping tabs on him."

=> "The fire burns in his heart to stay

Quinton Fortune is looking to sign a new contract at United,
and negotiations are on-going:

“We´re still talking about a new contract. It´s taking time
but I´m sure it will be sorted out and hopefully in the next
couple of weeks because I definitely want to stay here.

“Words cannot describe what I feel like when I put on the
Manchester United shirt and I don´t want to go anywhere else
because we have the best players. I have improved but I also
think I can do much better. I want to be among the best and
challenging the best.

“That´s the fire that keeps burning in my heart. I will keep
going and hopefully when my chance comes I´ll be ready for
it.”

Fortune was beginning to hit form over Christmas when injury
struck, but he isn’t complaining.

“I still have a house to sleep in and food on the table, so
I can´t complain.

“I just need to work hard and carry on playing so I can get
fit for the first-team,

“You get frustrated some days but you have to try and keep
everything in perspective. I´m at the best club in the
world, getting treatment every day from the best physios and
everything is done for my benefit.” "
