" Striker speaks on Reds move"
Patrick Kluivert has emphatically ruled out a move to Manchester United after growing tired of endless rumours of a switch to the Reds.
The Dutchman has been repeatedly linked with a transfer to Old Trafford in which he would link up with his international strike-partner Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Kluivert was touted as a possible signing for both United and Arsenal last week when it was discovered that a release clause in his contract had been activated.
Barcelona have an option to reduce Kluivert’s wages at any moment, but upon doing so the player would be allowed to leave for a little over £1million.
However, while the Dutch striker remains unhappy with the ongoing contract negotiations with Nou Camp officials, he insists he has made no contact with any club.
He said: " The club want to renegotiate my contract to their advantage and while I understand and am sympathetic to their financial situation, I am not sure whether I can accept their offer.
" Because my future is not clear, there have been stories about me joining other clubs in the last month, particularly Manchester United and Arsenal, but there is little truth in these rumours.
" As for Manchester United, well this is a story that won´t go away but I can say honestly there has been no contact with the club," he insisted.
Still the rumours persist, but Kluivert – speaking on his icons.com website – claims he has been mis-quoted on where his future lies.
The skilful forward continued: " Neither myself nor my agent have been in contact with any club and the quotes attributed to me in the media saying there have been discussions are simply fiction.
" I do not wish to leave the Nou Camp but the club want to have things all their own way and that is a problem.”
The situation may well be resolved some time this week as talks continue to resolve the contractual despute.
" My representatives will talk with Barca´s people on Wednesday and we will then have a clearer picture of the situation," he added.
