" Man Utd wait on Ronaldinho"

Ronaldinho is set to leave PSG
Brazilian striker Ronaldinho´s potential transfer to Manchester United could be nearer to completion on Friday.

The 23-year old´s present club Paris St Germain are set to resume training under new coach Vahid Halilhodzic and the first issue that the club must resolve is United´s reported £13m offer for Ronaldinho.

The World Cup winner has been hunted by Real Madrid, Barcelona and United for weeks while Newcastle have also reportedly shown interest.

However, Manchester United are marginal favourites and have money to spend after England captain David Beckham joined Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Ronaldinho would be happy to play for Manchester United

Ronaldinho´s brother Roberto Assis

Ronaldinho´s brother and agent Roberto Assis believes that PSG, who had earlier said they would hold onto their star asset, are gradually accepting that he will leave the Parc des Princes this summer.

" Ronaldinho would be happy to play for Manchester United," said Assis, who has been the player´s guardian since their father died when Ronaldinho was eight.

" Every good player wants to join a team like them and we are happy that they have shown an interest in him.

" We will talk with PSG and I think he will leave. The situation is fairly straightforward now that Brazil are out of the Confederations Cup.

" I expect the talks to last until Friday."

PSG, meanwhile, are in desperate need of cash even if they insist they want to keep the Brazilian on their books.

The Parisian giants had a poor 2002-03 season, finishing in 11th spot and missing out on a place in the Uefa Cup after being defeated 2-1 in the French Cup final

=>ETO´O vers Liverpool ?

" Eto´o eyes Anfield move"

Eto´o wants to partner Michael Owen
Real Mallorca striker Samuel Eto´o has revealed he wants to make a move to the Premiership to join Liverpool.
The 22-year old Cameroon international had been linked with Manchester United after scoring 15 goals in La Liga last season and impressing in the Confederations Cup.

But now Eto´o has set his sights on joining Gerard Houllier´s side and teaming up with England hitman Michael Owen.

" I´m convinced Michael Owen and I would form a partnership which would leave defenders with their tongues hanging out," Eto´o told the Daily Mirror newspaper.

" I would drive the fans crazy with my goals and passes. I´m capable of playing in any team in the world and I´ve showed that at Mallorca and for Cameroon," he added.

Eto´o could be lined up by Houllier as a replacement for Emile Heskey, with the Frenchman said to be open to offers for the misfiring former Leicester City player.

Heskey has fallen down the pecking order both at club and country level and the arrival of Eto´o would further limit his first-team opportunities.

Manchester United looking at Japan´s Nakata: report

TOKYO ( AFP) - Manchester United are seeking to recruit Japanese football superstar Hidetoshi Nakata for their midfield depleted by David Beckham´s transfer to Real Madrid, a Tokyo sports daily said.

The 26-year-old Parma player is also reportedly wanted by another English

Premiership side Chelsea and Italian Serie-A club AC Milan. French club

Olympique Marseille joined the fray last week.

The Sports Nippon newspaper said that Manchester, under instructions from club mentor Bobby Charlton, had put Nakata under a microscope during Japan´s short-lived campaign at the Confederations Cup in France.

The Premiership champions have " already started preparations for talks" to acquire Nakata, the report said.

But Nakata´s agent, Sunny Side Up Inc. of Tokyo, brushed aside the report as speculative. " He is always at the centre of rumour at this season of the year. His name crops up almost every day," an official of the company said.

Parma are expected to want around 15 million euros ( 17.8 million dollars) for Nakata, who has also played for AS Roma and Perugia since moving to Italy´s Serie-A in 1998.

He is unhappy with the way he was used by Parma coach Cesare Prandelli last season. Prandelli has used Nakata, who built up his career as a midfield playmaker, on the right side and often close to the firing line.

=>P-e Ronnie qui signe demain en 2e attaquant suivi de Nakata en milieu droit. Howard aurait deja signe, pour Bellion on saura le 1er juillet, et Djemba doit signer apres la coupe de confederations...

" Ronaldinho can go"

Paris St Germain have said that they are willing to enter negotiations to sell Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

The French club, where the striker has played for the last two season, had insisted they would do all they could to hold onto their prize asset. But following discussions with Roberto Assis - Ronaldinho´s agent and brother - they now say they will listen to offers.

" If we receive a huge offer, considering our financial situation, we will think about it," admitted PSG coach Vahid Halilhodzic on Friday.

" Ronnie has another three years on his contract with us and when I arrived I said that he would not go and I did not see what could make me change my mind," Halilhodzic told Le Parisien.

" But our economical situation is delicate.

" Right now Ronnie is still at PSG and I would be delighted to coach a player of that calibre.

" Maybe we will not have any opportunity to recruit any player if we remain in such a stalemate. If the finances of the club were healthy he would never go."

Assis said earlier this week that Ronaldinho would be keen to join United, who are believed to be battling Real Madrid for his signature.

" Every good player wants to join a team like them and we are happy that they have shown an interest in him," said Assis.

" We will talk with PSG and I think he will leave. The situation is fairly straightforward now that Brazil are out of the Confederations Cup.

" I expect the talks to last until Friday."

Reds Chief Executive Peter Kenyon is said to be in Paris to open official talks with PSG for the player.

" Ronaldinho talks confirmed"

Ronaldinho´s agent Roberto Assis has confirmed that he has talks with Peter Kenyon planned.

The Brazilian´s club, Paris St Germain, admitted earlier on Friday that they would listen to offers for the striker, and now Assis - also the player´s brother - says that discussions are planned with United soon.

" We had a meeting with PSG president Francis Graille and we are continuing negotiations," Assis said.

" We have a meeting later on in Paris with Graille, myself and Peter Kenyon," he added.

When asked whether there was a chance that the 23-year-old would be moving to Manchester, he replied: " Yes, very much so."
