" Forlan to fight for Man Utd spot"

Exclusive by Nada Grkinic

Forlan has spent most of his time on the bench
Player profile: Diego Forlan
Manchester United striker Diego Forlan will not be leaving Old Trafford this summer, according to the player´s agent.
The Uruguayan forward has been linked with a move to Spanish First Division club Seville, who were reported to have taken the first steps to sign him.

But both Forlan´s representative, Daniel Bolotnicoff, and Seville said the speculation was way off the mark.

" Diego is very happy at Manchester United," Bolotnicoff told this website.

" No offer has been made for Forlan and he does not want to leave Manchester United in any case.

" He wants to see out his contract with the club and feels very well there.

" Diego is prepared to be patient and wait for his first-team opportunities.

" He knew that when he signed for United he would face stiff competition from some great players.

" But he is training hard and is improving all the time. He has been treated very well by the club and gets on well with his team-mates.

" And Diego is ready to fight for his chance and hopes to be an important part of the team next season when he expects to play more."

The 24-year-old has scored only nine goals in 63 appearances for the Premiership champions since arriving for £7.5m in January 2002.

Beckham joins Real Madrid

Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be scouring the continent to find a regular strike partner for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

And the United manager is already planning to strengthen his squad following the £25m sale of David Beckham to Real Madrid.

But Forlan will not be swapping England for Spain like Beckham.

A Seville spokesman added: " It´s not true that our technical director, Ramon Rodriguez, said that the club wanted to sign Forlan.

" That came from an Italian newspaper.

" It´s true that Seville are looking for a forward but we have not made an official move for Forlan."

" Reds given Ronnie deadline"

Ronaldinho’s agent has set a deadline of the end of the month for the Brazilian stars’s decision on whether to leave Paris St Germain.

According to the player´s agent and brother, Roberto Assis, three teams are interested in the skilful attacker - but his future could still lie in the French capital.

However, no decision - whether to leave or not - shall be taken until the after the final of the Confederations Cup on June 29.

”Manchester United, Paris St Germain and Barcelona are still interested in Ronnie," said Assis. " But it won´t be until the final of the Confederations Cup on June 29 that we´ll announce Ronnie´s departure - or if he´s staying at PSG."

The drawn out affair looks set to continue with no decision expected on the Brazilian’s future for over a week.

Ron´s on
Manchester United are back leading the race for Ronaldinho - even though he prefers a move to Spain. Their financial power has pushed them clear of Barcelona after 24 hours of intense negotiations. Ronaldinho´s club Paris St Germain want virtually all the £10million transfer fee up front. And United have agreed to that - as well as offering the Brazilian star £55,000 a week. They are also close to a deal with Ronaldinho´s company Sport 5 over his image rights, a contract worth £13.5m.

Bernabeu is Real theatre
They call Old Trafford the Theatre of Dreams - but David Beckham has been told Real Madrid´s Bernabeu Stadium is football´s greatest drama hall. With entertainers like Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Ronaldo strutting the stage, playing for Manchester United does not even come close to the Real deal. That is the view of ex-Liverpool striker Michael Robinson, now Spain´s leading TV football personality.

Fans can wreck Becks
Ronaldo has warned David Beckham he faces trial by the world´s most demanding jury - Real Madrid´s fans. The Bernabeu faithful, not known for their patience and understanding, even made life a misery for Brazil´s World Cup Golden Boot winner when he arrived as last summer´s big buy. And Ronaldo believes life could be even tougher for England skipper Beckham because of his glamour-boy lifestyle and the hype surrounding his arrival.

I want the 7 on my Beck
Ronaldinho last night revealed he is ready to take over David Beckham´s famous number seven shirt at Manchester United. Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho insisted wearing the number would be a " great honour" as United boss Sir Alex Ferguson closes in on the man he wants to replace Beckham at Old Trafford. Ronaldinho will even demand the number seven shirt as part of his contract as it is crucial to some of his endorsements, advertising deals and image rights. Barcelona have also made an offer for the £10million-rated World Cup winner but Mirror Sport can reveal United are still leading the chase.

Beauties and the beast
Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho last night vowed to turn his back on his playboy lifestyle to become the new king of Old Trafford. World Cup winner Ronaldinho may not have David Beckham´s good looks but he has built up a reputation as a womaniser which lands him in constant trouble. Buck-toothed Ronaldinho has scored with a string of beauties and fell out with former Paris Saint Germain manager Luis Fernandez after behaving like a prima donna following Brazil´s World Cup success. But Ronaldinho knows all about Sir Alex Ferguson´s hardman reputation and if he joins Manchester United rather than, Barcelona, their rivals for his signature, he is ready to clean up his act. Good job, too, as Ronaldinho has a reputation as a troublemaker.

Becks forced out
David Beckham was forced out of Manchester United because he lost a desperate battle with Ryan Giggs to survive at Old Trafford, it emerged last night. Sources close to Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that as recently as last January, the United manager had decided to sacrifice Giggs as part of his plans to rebuild the team. But once the brilliant Welsh winger won a reprieve, Beckham was doomed. Ferguson had made the difficult decision to sell the first and the greatest of his prodigies after the first few months of last season. Giggs was in the midst of a miserable run of form and the United crowd had started to jeer him. Ferguson knew firm interest from Inter Milan meant he could expect a fat £15million fee. Sir Alex had realised United´s rigid 4-4-2 made his team too predictable, especially in Europe. He was also concerned playing both Giggs and Beckham as traditional wide men left United too exposed in central midfield.

We´ll wait for Weng
Real Madrid have told Arsene Wenger they´re ready to wait a year for him to become their new manager. The Spanish giants are so desperate to land the Arsenal boss, they are set to give current manager Vicente Del Bosque a 12-month deal to tide them over.
David Woods, Daily Star

You´d better sort it quick Becks
Ronaldo yesterday warned David Beckham he´d better settle in quick at Real Madrid. The Brazilian superstar said the ultra-demanding Bernabeu faithful would soon be on Becks´ back if he didn´t produce the goods. The World Cup winner´s warning came in Spain as £25m Beckham himself was making a plea from Tokyo for Real supporters to give him time.
David Woods, Daily Star

Becks: tell the truth
Manchester United owe it to their army of supporters to come completely clean over the David Beckham affair. Beckham too must give his story on the most explosive transfer in English football history. With Beckham in the Far East and on his way to Madrid for his medical and public unveiling, United surely can´t wait any longer to reveal the real story of a deal that has been surounded by lies and secrecy.
Brian Woolnough, Daily Star

Window shopping
Manchester United forward Jimmy Davis is expected to join Watford next week on a year-long loan. The England Under 20 player has signed a new contract at Old Trafford but will be sent out by Sir Alex Ferguson to gain first-team experience. Davis, 20, who likes to play wide on the right, has previously been on loan to Royal Antwerp and Swindon.
Sports staff, Daily Mail

And finally, this is taking the Beckham story a little bit too far(!)...

No place to hide
The sight of a grown man cowering in a corridor like a schoolboy trying to avoid an angry teacher encapsulated what awaits David Beckham when he begins life at Real Madrid.

Geremi´s Macca booster
Middlesbrough are on the verge of landing Cameroon ace Geremi in a cut-price £4m deal. With Manchester United unlikely to follow up their initial interest and Real rejecting Manchester City´s attempts to take him on loan, Boro have emerged as the only realistic candidates. Boro chief Steve McClaren refused to meet Real Madrid´s £9m price tag for the midfielder. McClaren´s stance is set to pay off with Real poised to accept a reduced bid.

Man Utd : Ferguson veut absolument Frey ( 20/06)
