"Giggsy spies a treble"
Ryan Giggs admits his season from hell could turn into one of the greatest of his career. The Welsh winger has been ridiculed by Manchester United fans for his poor form and an awful open-goal miss against arch-rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup. But now he’s buzzing at the prospect of reclaiming the title, winning the Champions League again and taking Wales to the brink of Euro 2004.
Matt Barlow, Daily Star
"Giggs takes joy ride"
Ryan Giggs is ready to emerge from his pre-Christmas gloom by celebrating the best season of his career. The Manchester United winger was pilloried by his own supporters earlier this season after a slump in form. But Ryan is flyin´ again, just in time for the title run-in and Wales´ Euro 2004 qualifying double-header against Azerbaijan and Yugoslavia.
Janine Self, The Sun
"Giggs: It could be best yet"
Ryan Giggs says winning the title back from Arsenal this season would represent the greatest domestic achievement of his career at Manchester United. As the winter kicked in with United nine points off the pace, ravaged by injury and struggling for form, the writing appeared on the wall. Giggs himself was stuck in a miserable rut and was barracked by some United fans - even before firing over an empty net against Arsenal in an FA Cup defeat. But Giggs said: "This could turn out to be one of my best-ever seasons."

sur Beckham........
"Hunt to replace Becks"
The first clandestine steps in paving the way to sell David Beckham have been taken by Manchester United. Beckham is not officially up for sale, but it seems highly probable United will sell for the right price. A select group of agents has been activated to find a world-class right-sided player. The object is to have a contingency plan should a club such as Real Madrid make an acceptable £30million offer this summer.
Harry Harris, Daily Express
( qd meme dur a croire ! )
"Becks thinks Henry is the bes"t
David Beckham has hailed Arsenal striker Thierry Henry as his player of the season. The Manchester United star and England captain will vote for the Frenchman in the PFA Player of the Year poll. Despite the battle for the Premiership title between United and Arsenal, Becks paid tribute to Henry´s all-round brilliance and ability to score stunning goals. If I had to pick a player from a club other than United, I´d go for Thierry Henry," said Beckham.

" Ricky´s Reserves in action "
FA Premier Reserve League ( North)
Sunderland Reserves 1
United Reserves 0
Ricky Sbragia tasted defeat on his return to former club Sunderland on Monday night, as Quinton Fortune continued his comeback from injury.
The South African international, who broke a leg against Liverpool last December, played the first half in Durham before being replaced with young midfielder Chris Humphreys in a game of few chances.
Neither goalkeeper had to make a save of note in the first hour of the match, which was dominated by the two midfields at the Archibald Stadium in front of new Black Cats manager Mick McCarthy.
A Darren Fletcher header was cleared off the line by Jeff Whitley after 61 minutes, however, and that seemed to be the signal for the game to wake up.
Within a couple of minutes, Sunderland had the lead despite United starting to look the better team. Jon-Joe Dickman made a run down the right, and with Michael Proctor charging in on goal, Mark Lynch inadvertantly turned the ball into his own net. The defender who was unlucky to score an own goal against Deportivo la Coruna had done it again. ( LOL ! )
As in the Champions League game, the young defender didn´t let his head drop and he continued to play well in an impressive backline also comprising Danny Pugh, Lee Roche and Neil Wood.
The Reds were perhaps unlucky to lose their sixth match in the last seven outings with Nardiello and Humphreys going close at the end, but a successful defence of the title they won so well last year is looking increasingly unlikely.
United: Carroll, Lynch, Roche, Pugh, Fox, Fortune, Fletcher, Wood, Davis, Nardiello, M Williams.
Sunderland: Macho, Rossiter, Davidson, Babb, Capper, Dickman, McCann, Whitley, Black, Proctor, Stewart
=>changement d´horaire........
=>United’s Premiership fixture against Charlton at Old Trafford on Saturday 3 May has been rescheduled. The Reds’ last home game of the season will now kick-off at 12:30pm.
It sums up the fixture scheduling that has so riled United fans this season, but the final Premiership football Old Trafford will showcase this season will again see sleepy-eyed Reds clamber to their seats for a Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
Reds supporters protested at Saturday´s game against Fulham, holding up cards showing the number "3" to demand a return to the more customary mid-afternoon slot that has been so sparse this term.
However, despite early starts for fans, chaotic travel arrangements, and spare a thought for the players – pre-match pasta at 9:00 in the morning – the statistics are in United’s favour for early kick-offs.
Just in the Premiership, United are unbeaten when kicking-off between 12-1pm. Although Fergie’s side have drawn three games at lunchtime, seven Premiership wins have been bagged before the rest of the league’s managers have even given their team-talks.
Premiership kick-off times W D L
12-1pm 7 3 0
2-4pm 9 2 3
7.45-8pm 3 2 2
Stats correct at 25/03/03
Compared to the more traditional kick-off times, United’s results fare much worse in league combat. Starting between 2-4pm has led to the Reds dropping 13 points, while in their evening kick-offs, Fergie’s side have only earned roughly half of the points on offer.
The Charlton match is the penultimate game of the season, and with a trip to Goodison to follow on the final day of the campaign, United will need to keep their lunchtime form going – and put up with pasta for breakfast for a little longer – if they are to lift the Premiership title.

=>info vu sur autre forum

"Real interest embellished "
( beckham va rester ; -) )
David Beckham has laughed off suggestions in the press that he is on his way to Real Madrid.
Rumours have surfaced that big spenders Real are in the hunt for the right-sided United and England midfielder. Many newspapers ran quotes attributed to Real’s managing director Jorge Valdano who had supposedly told the Spanish press: "Beckham looks like the next big project for us."
But reports from Spain would suggest that Valdano was mis-quoted or that his comments have been mis-translated.
And Beckham himself was keen to play down the talk. He said that although he is flattered by any such interest, he just wants to concentrate on playing football.
"There are always going to be certain rumours flying about,” he said. “I´m used to that now. I´m just enjoying being involved in a title race that is hotting up, with three teams in the running.
Beckham did admit that he respects Real Madrid, but plans to channel his energy into club and international duty rather than worry about off-the-field rumours.
"I´ve always said that Real Madrid have got some great players and great traditions. Any player would be honoured to be spoken about by them. So of course, I´m honoured.
"I just get on with my football and don´t worry about anything else going on or being said around me," he said.
