Effectivement...

" Barthez veut rester à MU" ( L´equipe.fr)

" Beckham faces transfer D-Day"

Beckham will be given until 27 June to decide
Spain lays out welcome mat
Real Madrid are understood to have scheduled a meeting with David Beckham´s advisers on 23 June.
The Spanish giants will then give the England captain four days to decide whether he wants to move to the Bernabau.

Beckham will not be at the meeting, because he plans to jet off on a promotional tour of the Far East as soon as he returns from a family holiday in the US.

The 28-year-old and his wife Victoria were due to touch down in Britain on Friday but are thought not to have been on their scheduled flight.

It is possible they might go straight to Asia, where Beckham is set to make appearances in Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam.

" Beckham is a football artist"
Real Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano

Meanwhile Beckham´s advisers, the SFX group, are expected to sit down with representatives of Real including sporting director Jorge Valdano - acknowledged as Madrid´s ´deal maker´.

Officially Madrid cannot meet Beckham´s camp unless they have agreed a transfer fee with Manchester United - something only Barcelona have done so far.

But Real are expected to clinch an agreement with the Premiership champions once the Barca presidential elections are out of the way on Sunday.

Man Utd have in place a deal to sell Beckham to Barcelona if Joan Laporta is elected president - but the English club would welcome another club joining the bidding.

That could help push the transfer fee up from £25m, where it is currently thought to be.

Real also know that the England captain has shown no interest in meeting Laporta or anyone from Barca - who have not even qualified for the Champions League next season.

Madrid would be his first choice although there is still time for AC Milan - also watching Sunday´s Nou Camp elections - to enter the scene.

Some reports have even suggested that Beckham has already met Real representatives, before he travelled to America.

It is said that he asked a series of questions - including whether he would be an automatic first-team player - and was satisfied with the answers.

Valdano has hinted publicly that Madrid would get around the issue of how to accommodate both Beckham and Luis Figo by playing the Englishman in the centre of midfield.

" David Beckham is a footballer in exile," Valdano said.
" He should not be playing on the right but in the centre.
" When played correctly, football is like art - a wonderful painting or a beautiful piece of music. Beckham is a football artist.
" He is the greatest striker of a ball anywhere."

It is still possible, however, that Brazilian midfielder Ronaldinho could scupper Beckham´s move to the Bernabau.

Ronaldinho will leave Paris St Germain this summer and had been thought to be Old Trafford-bound, but now Real and Barca are said to have entered the bidding

Man Utd ´target Djemba Djemba´

Djemba Djemba had a good season with Nantes
Nantes have claimed Manchester United want their midfielder Eric Djemba Djemba.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international, who played in the World Cup last year, was first linked with the Reds at the end of May.

New Nantes coach Loic Amisse said the player had been the subject of a preliminary £2.1m bid from Old Trafford.

" Manchester United told us they would make a written offer. Until now their proposition was not serious," he was quoted as saying on Manchester United´s website.

" Eric is a good player with a certain value and they had made a low proposition. However, they were quite right to start with a low fee in such a sluggish market.

" But Eric is not against staying for another year with us."

Djemba Djemba is a tenacious midfielder comfortable in the middle or on the right flank.

He has been included in the Cameroon squad preparing for the Confederations Cup starting in France next week.

O´Shea set to sign new deal

O´Shea will commit to Man United
John O´Shea has given Manchester United fans a boost by confirming he is set to sign a new contract with the club.
The Republic of Ireland defender is heading to the Caribbean on holiday, but is aiming to put pen to paper once he returns to Old Trafford.

" I´m in talks with United at the moment about a new contract," O´Shea said.

" (Man United chief executive) Peter Kenyon is on holiday at the moment, so we´ll have to wait until he gets back before finalising things."

The news that O´Shea is ready to commit his long term future to the club will be welcomed by the supporters who are bracing themselves for the loss of David Beckham this summer.

O´Shea has made a rapid rise at Old Trafford, and was one of the players used most by Sir Alex Ferguson last season as he made 52 appearances for United.

Everyone seems to be quite happy with me at the moment

John O´Shea

The 22-year-old finally completed a long campaign on Wednesday as he was named man-of-the-match in Ireland´s 2-0 Euro 2004 qualifying win over Georgia at Lansdowne Road.

The victory followed Saturday´s 2-1 success over Albania in Dublin and lifted Ireland into second place in Group Ten.

" I couldn´t have asked for a better end to this season," O´Shea added.

" The last two months have been a dream and these two results for Ireland have been the icing on the cake.

" Everyone seems to be quite happy with me at the moment. It was Alex Ferguson´s decision to play me in all those games for United so he must have been happy with me.

" I´ve played some internationals in the middle of that and I think ( Ireland boss) Brian Kerr was happy so it was a case of being a very satisfying season for me.

Player profile: John O´Shea

" A lot of people have said to me there was no way I could have predicted what has happened and that is true."

The highlight of course for O´Shea was getting his hands on the Premiership trophy at the end of the season.

" It´s an amazing feeling. All that hard work you get through during the year, the games that you lost and the games that you won, all the emotion just comes out.

" It was incredible, especially having my mum, dad, brother and girlfriend there. It really was a fantastic occasion.

" Winning the championship and playing more than 50 games with United was an absolute dream of a season."

Barca are in the cr*p and £30m will put us in the sh*t
Barcelona presidential candidate Lluis Bassat last night insisted: " Buying David Beckham would put us in the sh*t financially". The millionaire publicity tycoon is the main opposition to Joan Laporta, who has surged into the lead for Sunday´s election on the back of the ´Becks Effect´. But the battle for Barca is getting dirty and Bassat has warned the electorate that Laporta´s attempt to buy Beckham would leave the club penniless. Bassat plans to open talks with Ajax to bring in Ronald Koeman as manager - and the Dutchman does not want Becks near the team. Bassat said: " Laporta thinks he is king of the world with all this Beckham stuff but it worries the hell out of me. Our club is already in the cr*p financially and starting to rebuild with Beckham is a brutal risk."
Ben Kinsella, The Sun

Real pass Becks test
David Beckham asked Real Madrid FIFTEEN questions in a secret meeting paving the way for his £25million move to the Spanish giants. Beckham, his representatives and wife Victoria met with Real officials to discuss a move before the England skipper embarked on his promotional tour of the United States. Another meeting is planned for June 23, the day after the end of the Spanish season, when Real are expected to table a formal offer for the player who has become an outcast at Old Trafford.
KEY QUESTIONS
Will I be a 1st team regular? YES
What position will I play? YES
Will I wear the No 7 shirt? YES
Will I have a free role? YES
Will I be the only signing? YES
Can you also sign Gary Neville? . ..NO
David McDonnell, Daily Mirror

Nou must be joking
David Beckham found himself thrust into the role of political pawn again here last night when he was told he is not the man to save Barcelona. The England skipper has become the key figure in the race for Barcelona´s presidency and leading candidate Lluis Bassat has launched a withering attack on rival Joan Laporta´s promise to bring Manchester United outcast Becks to the Nou Camp. " David Beckham is a good player but he is not the answer for Barcelona Football Club," said Bassat. " One player cannot save a team alone, however good he may be."
David McDonnell, Daily Mirror

Branded Becks has reached the end of his United shelf life
The trouble with allowing people to market you as a ‘brand’ is that eventually someone will want to clear the shelf. Cast yourself as a commodity in endless adverts, photoshoots, magazine buy-ups and sponsorship deals and there comes a time when people ask if you are really doing what it says on the tin. While David Beckham, a decent father and a gifted footballer, has clearly been devastated by Manchester United’s rejection of his services, that sympathy has to be qualified.
Des Kelly, Daily Mirror

Becks deal: It´s for Real
David Beckham is in line to become a Real Madrid player within two weeks - after giving his agents the green light to thrash out a £25m move to the Bernabeu. Representatives from the SFX group jetted out to Madrid for secret talks with high-ranking Real officials on Wednesday. And the Manchester United midfielder- due back today from his holiday in the USA- could even wrap up a dream move to the Spanish giants beore he flies out to the Far East on a promotional tour on June 25. Real president Florentino Perez and sports director Jorge Valdano are set for summit talks over Beckham on June 23. But with negotiations ongoing with between Real and Beckham´s advisers, a deal could even be struck within the next 10 days.
Mark Ogden, Daily Star

Point of no return
David Beckham returned from the United States to confront the reality that his Manchester United career is over. The England captin wants his future sorted out in the next two weeks and ideally is hoping for a choice between Real Madrid and European champions AC Milan. But in the event that his favoured two fail to reach an agreement with United, he will have a change of heart about moving to Barcelona. A close aide of Beckham´s confirmed last night that staying at United is not an option. The source said: " There are no bridges to be healed at Old Trafford. It looks very nuch like there is no way back."
Harry Harris, Daily Express

Becks D-day
David Beckham faces the biggest decision of his life when he returns from his tour of the Far East at the end of the month. Real Madrid plan to open negotiations with the England captin´s agents SFX on June 23- the day after the Spanish season ends - with Beckham returning four days later to face his personal D-day. The midfielder remains in his personal turmoil about his future after learning this week that he is surplus to requiurments at Manchester United.
Ian Ladyman, Daily Mail

United plans hit real hitch
Real Madrid are ready to deliver an amazing double-whammy on Manchester United- by stepping up thier bid to snatch Ronaldinho from under thier noses and making a cut price for David Beckham. Real are happy to offer Paris St Germain £14 million for Ronaldinho, £4m more than United have put on the table for Sir Alex Ferguson´s top transfer target. But they are reluctant to match Barcelona´s £23m agreement with United For Beckham which could rise to £30m depending on the clubs sucess.
Richard Tanner, Daily Express

O´Shea is keen to copy Roy
John O´Shea is confident he will not buckle under the weight of expectation fron the Irish fans looking for a new hero. He completed a " dream season" with a man-of-the-match display for the Republic of Ireland as they beat Georgia 2-0 in Dublin to keep their Euro 2004 hopes alive. The Manchester United defender also revealed that Roy Keane has been a massive help to him as he grows used to being a Premiership winner and established international.
Richard Tanner Daily Express

Kewell prepared to give Sir Alex the cold shoulder
Harry Kewell is ready to snub Manchester United´s bid to prise him from Leeds, 12 months after Rio Ferdinand was lured to Old Treafford in a controversial £30million deal. Australian star Kewell jetted back from holiday last night to resume long-delayed talks and is thought unlikely to agree a new deal, with only 12 months left on his current contract.
Peter Ferguson, Daily Mail

Webber chase
Nottingham Forest and Blackburn are leading the chase for Manchester United striker Danny Webber. The 20 year-old impressed while on loan to Watford last Season before breaking a leg.The Hornets can not afford to sign him and will instead sign thier former striker Bruce Dyer o a free tranfer from Barnsley.
