Van der Sar: Was always at the mercy of Liverpool as his defence crumbled. Was given little hope with any goal 5
O’Shea: The Irishman had a truly torrid time. Was caught in possession too many times and didn’t shore up his flank 4
Ferdinand: With his sidekick enduring a poor time he suffered as a result and unable to pull things together 5
Vidic: Bad day at the office for the Serb from letting in Torres for the equaliser to his red card 4
Evra: Handed the visitors the advantage with his clumsy tackle on Gerrad for penalty just before half time 5
Ronaldo: When Reds needed his some magic from his as inspiration he wasn’t up to speed 4
Anderson: United’s maestro at Anfield last season but got nowhere near to winning the midfield battle this time 5
Carrick: Liverpool’s midfield were so on top and he never got the room to test the back four and get Reds attack going 4
Park: Mr Perpetual Motion in the first half and was one of few who put Anfielders under pressure on the ball but faded in second 6
Tevez: If more of his team mates had put in the normal shift like he did then Reds may have got something out of it 7
Rooney: In brief spells he looked like he could get United going and spark something but it didn’t happen often enough 6
Subs:
Berbatov (sub Park 73) Never in it 4
Scholes (sub Anderson 73) All over before he could do anything 4
Giggs (sub Carrick 73) As above 4
