" Reds want Ron "
United fans around the world will be delighted if the stories in Thursday´s papers prove to be true.
Ronaldinho raked in 53.3 per cent of the votes in the ManUtd.com poll which posed the question, " Of the midfielders that United have been linked with, who would you most like Fergie to sign?"
The runner-up to Ronaldinho was another South American, Mariano Gonzalez from Argentina. Ten per cent of voters picked him out as their preferred signing for midfield, while a further eight per cent settled for the star of the Champions League Final at Old Trafford, AC Milan´s Gennaro Gattuso.
The only other players to receive more than four per cent of the votes were the Premiership trio Patrick Vieira ( 6.9 per cent), Joe Cole ( 4.6) and Damien Duff ( 4.4). Portuguese starlet Ricardo Quaresma wasn´t far behind with 3.8 per cent but the other ten midfielders in the poll all scraped less than 2 per cent.
So far this summer, Manchester United have been linked with 17 different midfielders in England´s tabloid newspapers. The total for players in all positions now stands at a staggering 51

Laporta plays down Beckham link
Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has denied reports linking him with a proposed move for David Beckham.
Laporta is currently second favourite to fill the Nou Camp hot-seat, but has made himself the most talked-about candidate by revealing his contact with Manchester United over a move for the England captain.
Laporta has already announced he will bring Turkey goalkeeper Rustu Recber to Catalonia, but has recoiled from talk of a move for Beckham.
He told Spanish TV: " I have never said ´I am going to buy Beckham´. Those words appeared in an English newspaper and I deny them.
" We are not going to enter the dynamic of giving names, but I reserve the option to say more at an opportune moment.´´
Laporta admitted his project for tranforming the fortunes of Barca is a work in progress, but said most of the major pieces of the jigsaw are already in place.
" Our project has a coach [rumoured to be Guus Hiddink], a technical secretary and signings, some of them verbal and some of them firm,´´ he said.
> ca, ca m´etonne pas. Je sais très bien que le transfert de Beckham au Barca va pas se faire. C´est juste des conneries inventées par la presse british pr se faire vendre, le meme genre de connerie avec le Real, quoi.
Ouep, ca fait longtemps!
Comment tu vas???
=>DES CHANGEMENTS........
=>"Premier League agrees major changes"
Premiership clubs have agreed to allow transfer payments to be spread over the length of a player´s contract in a move which could cut the number of foreign imports.
The change was agreed at the summer meeting of Premier League club chairmen on Friday in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, following a proposal by Everton.
In the past Premiership clubs have been forced to pay 50% of transfers from other English sides up front and 50% within 12 months.
With the rules in France, Spain and Italy allowing fees to be paid off over several years, many managers have found it easier to look abroad in the past.
It should make it more attractive to managers to buy English-based players
Premier League spokesman
A Premier League spokesman said: " Payments for transfer fees can now be spread over the length of a player´s contract, so if the contract is for five years then the fee can be spread over that time.
" It will bring it into line with the foreign market. If you can do that with players from Italy or Spain it seems only sensible to be able to do it with players from England as well.
" And it should make it more attractive to managers to buy English-based players.
" However, this does not stop clubs asking for payment all up front or within 12 months if they wish to do so, it just gives them the option of spreading it out."
Meanwhile, a proposal to allow loan transfers between Premiership clubs was also agreed at the meeting.
Loans will only be allowed within the transfer windows up to a maximum of four per season.
Clubs will only be allowed two loan signings from other Premier League sides at any one time, although there will be an allowance made to sign goalkeepers in an emergency.
The Premier League also confirmed that the Asia Cup in Malaysia will go ahead next month.
There had been a doubt about the tournament, which will feature Newcastle, Chelsea, Birmingham and the Malaysian national team, following the Sars virus outbreak but that has now been laid to rest.
