Fergie labels Rafa rant 'ridiculous'
A triumphant Sir Alex Ferguson finally delivered his much-awaited verdict on Rafa Benitez’s Friday remarks, labelling them ‘ridiculous’.
Benitez accused Ferguson of being the only Premier League manager who is above the law during a Friday press conference, listing a whole host of incidents that have seen United go unpunished.
The Liverpool boss even gave a tongue-in-cheek warning to Luiz Felipe Scolari to ‘zonal mark’ the officials at Old Trafford, in a game United won 3-0.
After the match, Ferguson attempted to play down Benitez’s comments, only offering that the Spaniard was ‘disturbed’.
“I think you’ve got to cut through the venom of it, hopefully he’ll reflect and understand what he was saying was ridiculous,” Ferguson told Sky Sports.
“I think he was an angry man, I think he was disturbed for one reason or another – that’s all I’ve got to say about it.
“They’re not facts but we don’t want to get into it.”
