=>Who´s the pratt in the plait?
England ace David has never learned the follicle of his ways when it comes to his locks. And he seems to have made a plait of himself this time as he strolls into a restaurant in the south of France for a star-studded lunch with Posh and son Brooklyn. If Man United boss Alex Ferguson thought his Alice band was girlie, what will he make of this? Even Becks´ pals Liz Hurley and Elton John had to suppress a few titters at the posh De Colomber restaurant in Nice as he and Victoria headed for their table.

Becks stays, says dad
David Beckham´s father Ted has again denied reports that his son is set to join Real Madrid in the summer " David is staying at Manchester United as long as they want him," he said. " He loves the club and doesn´t want to go. Couldn´t you see that by the way he celebrated winning the Premiership trophy last weekend. Didn´t that tell you how much he wanted to stay? There is so much stuff written about him - the majority of it is wrong. In fact, it´s quite laughable. I can´t say enough that David wants to stay at United. He loves the club and all the talk about Real Madrid is pure fantasy. If people say he is going to leave United, then all I can say is it´s a big joke. Even when he went on the pitch after the final home game of the season, it was interpreted as a farewell. Blimey - he was just having a kickaround with his son Brooklyn. Solskjaer was on the pitch at the same time but they didn´t say he was leaving. For the final time - David doesn´t want to go."

£3m - that´s why the FA will fly Becks halfway round the world
England´s controversial friendly with South Africa will provide a £3million boost for the cash-strapped FA´s coffers. There has been cynicism about David Beckham travelling to South Africa when he is suspended from next month´s Euro 2004 qualifier against Slovakia, and the footballing value of the game has been undermined by a row which means leading South African players based overseas, including United´s Quinton Fortune, have not been selected.

Utd close in on US superkid
Manchester United will use their pre-season tour of the USA to stake their claim for an American superkid who was making fools out of seasoned professionals before he was a teenager. Freddy Adu is being touted as the player who will become Uncle Sam´s first superstar after excelling for the Under-17s last year against MLS Champions San Jose Earthquakes when he was just 12. United have contacted Adu´s uncle - former Leeds United striker Tony Yeboah - about the possibility of him being a special guest of the club at one of their matches when they go stateside.

Turn those lights off!
UEFA want to pull the plug on Manchester United - sparking another row in the build-up to the European Cup Final at Old Trafford. UEFA have ordered United to cover up the huge neon Manchester United sign outside the stadium that welcomes visitors, close the United megastore where visitors can buy United memorabilia and block out United signs on the illuminated scoreboards inside the stadium. The demands have left United seething.

Gutted by Hammer blow
Rio Ferdinand admits his Premiership celebrations were soured by West Ham´s relegation. The United defender - whose brother Anton is pushing for a first team place at Upton Park - said: " I was gutted when they went down. I half-expected it before Sunday but it´s desperate considering the talented squad there which will now be broken up."

Fergie´s up for big Mak
Real Madrid star Claude Makelele last night insisted he is wanted by Manchester United. The £10 million rated Makelele said: " I´d lvoe to go and play for Manchester United. They have been in contact with my representatives and I´d love to go there. I will say yes if an offer comes in. Playing for Sir Alex Ferguson is something I want to experience. He´s a truly great manager."

I´ve taken 1,200 penalties against Barthez - he´s only saved one!
Ruud van Nistelrooy last night revealed he´s fired more than 1,200 penalties at team-mate Fabien Barthez this season - and the Frenchman has saved one! Ruud scored 12 spot-kicks in his amazing 44-goal haul this season and said: " I practice my penalty kicks three times a week. Each time I take 10 penalties and Fabien is always the goalkeeper. Throughout the whole season he only saved one!"
