Duff the first on Ferguson´s list
Sir Alex Ferguson has the green light to spend, spend, spend and send shivers down the spines of Premiership rivals. That will spell bad news for Blackburn fans with the United manager preparing to lure Damien Duff. Ferguson is eyeing up moves for PSG´s Brazilian Ronaldinho, Roy Makaay of Deportivo and Real Sociedad´s Turkish strike Nihat. United sources reckon Ferguson is close to moving for Duff after Rovers revealed that, reluctantly, they will listen to offers for their Irish winger. " I know what I want and I will try to improve the squad," Ferguson said last night. " It may require one or two new players or maybe two or three. At the moment I have no definite plans and nothing is happening."

Fergie gets cash
Alex Ferguson will be given cash to spend this summer. But United Chief Executive Peter Kenyon said it would be a case of the manager " tweaking the squad rather than massively rebuilding it." Fergie´s top target is believed to be a striker. Kenyon promised: " We will start the season with some new faces. Ultimately all I can assure you is the squad that starts next season will be the squad that gets us the Premier League title again and advance us further in Europe."

Fergie gets a Kew card
Sir Alex Ferguson was last night given the green light to spend, spend, spend this summer - to the despair of his Premiership rivals. And that immediately spelt bad news for Leeds fans with Fergie keen to lure Harry Kewell to Old Trafford. Ferguson is eyeing up moves for PSG´s Brazilian Ronaldinho, Roy Makaay of Deportivo and Real Sociedad´s Turkish strike Nihat as the Premiership champions look to add to their galaxy of stars. But Fergie said: " There´s no way I am going to talk about particular players because I don´t want people to know who we are after. Why should we do that? There is plenty of speculation without me adding to it!" Fergie is also keen on a goalkeeper and Bayern Munich´s Oliver Kahn has placed himself at the top of United´s hit-list after admitting he is " honoured" by their interest. Fergie has already drawn up a short-list of Brad Friedel, Antti Niemi and Paul Robinson, but Kahn´s decision to consider his future at Bayern has placed Fergie on red alert to make a £15m move for the 33-year-old.
