=>Vieira ou la mauvaise foi incarnee ^^

" Vieira rubbishes the Reds"

Patrick Vieira believes Manchester United were " rubbish" at times this season.

The Arsenal midfielder made his extraordinary statement in an interview with the Daily Mirror. The full quote read as follows:

" I have seen Manchester United so many times on television this season and they were playing really poor football - really rubbish. When I was watching they just did not play well."

Vieira went on to support Arsene Wenger´s claim that the best team in England did not win the title this season, saying:

" Arsenal are the better team. In fact, there is no doubt that we are the best football team in England."

The Frenchman did have some begrudging words of praise for United, however, as he tried to explain how the Reds finished top of the pile.

" Manchester United have, how can I say it, more hunger than we do. As a team they are much more experienced than us but they have more players who have that vital hunger.

" United ( also) have this or that player who comes up with a trick, they score a goal and then they win one-nil or two-nil. I think that was the difference this season."

As for next season, Vieira has already made one bold prediction - that Arsenal will win the Champions League.

" Bellion speaks out on transfer rumours"

Sunderland striker David Bellion has told of how Mick McCarthy tried to persuade him to stay at the Stadium of Light.

Bellion is almost certain to leave the Black Cats this summer, but the Frenchman refuses to confirm reports linking him with United.

The lightning-fast attacker has been the focus of much transfer speculation this season, and was the subject of an enquiry from United about the player´s availability in December last year.

And now, if newspaper reports are to be believed, United are again poised to make a move for the 20-year-old former AS Cannes forward.

But Bellion is not being drawn in by the rumour mill. He said: " I can´t talk about Manchester United because I am still at Sunderland. I will just have to wait and see what happens."

This particular transfer saga has a stormy history. Sunderland chairman Bob Murray accused Old Trafford officials of an illegal approach for the player, whose contract expires this summer, during the mid-season transfer window. The Stadium of Light chief claimed United were trying to unsettle the player.

However, Manchester United responded to Murray´s comments by officially rebutting the allegations.

A club statement on ManUtd.com on 23 January read: " We have played no part in making him feel disaffected with Sunderland, and at no time have we made an illegal approach to the player."

However, in one last attempt to keep the precocious talent with the Wearsiders, former Republic of Ireland boss McCarthy – famed for his bust-up with Reds skipper Roy Keane – met the player to plead with him to stay.

Bellion said: " The manager wanted me to stay, and he left me with some difficult choices. I was flattered by what he said but I had made up my decision before he came here. I don´t think I will sign another contract at Sunderland.”

It appears that whether Bellion´s future lies at Old Trafford or not, he is unlikely to be lining up for the Blacks Cats in Division One next season.

Brown KO hits Euro 2004 bid
Wes Brown´s latest injury agony is a nightmare for Manchester United and England. The defender will be out for the rest of the year after rupturing the ligaments in his left knee. It means he will miss the start of Alex Ferguson´s big European Cup push plus England´s four remaining Euro 2004 qualifiers. To add to England´s woes, Nicky Butt is out for the summer so he can rest his nagging right ankle. Brown, 23, suffered his injury during United´s final game of the season at Goodison Park on Sunday and had to be carried off on a stretcher. Considering the seriousness of the problem, fans will be amazed that Brown was allowed back out on to the pitch with a crutch under his right arm to jump up and down alongside the rest of the squad following the presentation of the Premiership trophy.

Keane: Let´s get Del boy
Roy Keane believes it is time for Manchester United to go out and land another world-class striker. Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 44 goals this season, winning the Golden Boot with 25 Premiership strikes. But Keane would like to see him teamed up with Juventus star Alessandro del Piero or Inter Milan´s Christian Vieri, top scorer in Italy this season. Keane said: " Vieri is a player I would like at United. But maybe Alessandro Del Piero would be even better. He would be perfect for us." Keane wants the team strengthened in his bid to play in a European Cup final, having been banned for United´s 1999 victory. The Irishman said: " My dream is to win the Champions League - I was suspended when United beat Bayern in the 1999 final in Barcelona. I want a medal after having played and sweated blood to win it. That is the way I am - and I will carry on waiting."
Neil Custis, The Sun

You are rubbish United
Patrick Vieira has backed Arsene Wenger’s verdict that Arsenal are the best team in England – and claimed Manchester United won the Premiership playing “rubbish” football. Gunners captain Vieira believes United triumphed only because of their extra hunger. Admitting that Arsenal have lost some of their own traditional fighting spirit, Vieira said: “I have seen Manchester United so many times on television this season and they were playing really poor football – really rubbish.”

Crocked Wes will need op
Wes Brown’s injury jinx struck again yesterday when the Manchester United defender was ruled out for at least eight months. He will have surgery next week after damaging a knee ligament in the final game of the season at Everton on Sunday. It is a bitter blow for the England international, whose short career has been blighted by injury.

Learn to defend or you’ll always draw a Blanc
Laurent Blanc delivered a stinging farewell message to Manchester United by claiming they won’t win the Champions League again until they change their approach. Blanc, who retired after United’s win at Everton on Sunday, believes Sir Alex Ferguson’s side must improve defensively if they are to be crowned European kings again. Despite United winning their eighth Premiership title in 11 years with the best defensive record, Blanc believes they still have much to learn when up against Europe’s elite clubs. “You don’t see many English teams with a really good defence,” said Blanc. “In fact, Liverpool last year were the exception to that.”
David McDonnell, Daily Mirror

Friedel face-off
Brad Friedel is Arsenal’s No 1 target to take over from veteran keeper David Seaman, who is set to retire after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Southampton. The Gunners are poised to make a move for the Blackburn keeper next week. But they will find themselves embroiled in a battle with Manchester United, who see Friedel as the best bet to take over from Fabien Barthez. Both Arsenal and United have been linked with Leeds’ Paul Robinson, as well as Turkey international Rustu Recber. However, Friedel, voted by the PFA as the goalkeeper of the season, is the prime target for both clubs despite the fact he will be 32 this week.

Brown blow is signal to spend
Sir Alex Ferguson was last night preparing to step up his search for new defenders after Wes Brown’s injury jinx struck again. Unlucky Brown was ruled out for months after a scan revealed he had ruptured cruciate ligaments in a knee for the second time in his injury-plagued career.
Richard Tanner, Daily Express

Keano wants Del Boy – He’s perfect for us, Fergie
Roy Keane last night begged Manchester United to sign Juventus ace Alessandro del Piero – insisting the Italian international would be “perfect” for the Premiership champions. The United skipper also suggest Inter Milan striker Christian Vieri as an ideal capture for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Keano also pledged his loyalty to United, maintaining there is no other club in the world he would want to play for.

Becks is up for Posh bit of R ‘n R
David Beckham is looking forward to his first summer away from it all since 1997. The England skipper is to take a seven-week break following one of his most eventful seasons. And the 28-year-old can’t wait to spend some quality time with wife Victoria and sons Brooklyn and Romeo. Beckham said: “I will enjoy my summer a lot more this year. It has been an immense season but it will be nice to get away and have a rest.”
Bill Thornton, Daily Star

And finally, the most pointless story of the day…

It’s Ryan Jigs
Just hours after lifting the Premiership trophy, soccer star Ryan Giggs claimed another crown – as soccer star Ryan Giggs claimed another crown – as Manchester United’s breakdancing champion. The Red Devils celebrated winning their eighth title in 11 years with a bash at Manchester’s Sugar Lounge on Sunday night. And as the booze flowed, the players staged an impromptu dance competition. Winger Giggs, who also belted out classic hip hop tune Rapper’s Delight, stole the show by body popping to Run DMC and Aerosmith’s Walk This Way. Defender Rio Ferdinand came second but David Beckham sat it out. An onlooker told me: “Ryan was dancing like a man possessed.”

Keane calls on United to cement in Becks

MANCHESTER, England ( AFP) - Roy Keane has urged Manchester United to do everything possible to make sure David Beckham stays at the English champions.

Reports of a 35 million pound ( 50 million dollar) move to Real Madrid have cooled since Beckham insisted he wants to stay at Old Trafford but United admit that if an offer of that size came in they might not turn it down.

Reds chief executive Peter Kenyon told BBC Radio he would listen to serious offers for Beckham.

" I think we have to look at those kind of offers, it would be remiss not to," Kenyon said.

However, captain Keane is adamant the England star should stay put.

" I don´t know what David´s situation is. Every week there´s a new twist. If it were up to me, I wouldn´t let him go," Keane said.

" That fuss about the boot incident was out of proportion - it was just an accident. There was no dressing room tension about it."

Manager Alex Ferguson kicked a boot across the changing room in a fit of fury after the FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Arsenal and cut Beckham above the eye.

Keane´s statement adds to the pressure on United not to buckle if Real or Inter Milan test them with an offer for Beckham.

Kenyon said he would be sitting down with Ferguson to draw up plans for next season´s team.

" The success of Manchester United is about the team. David Beckham is an essential part of our team. But ultimately players retire, there is a life span and there will reach a time when we have to replace him," Kenyon said.

Beckham is in his first year of a new three-year contract which, with endorsments, was estimated to make him the world´s highest-paid player.

France Football magazine last week put his earnings at 15 million euros ( 17 million dollars) a year, one million more than Real Madrid´s French star Zinedine Zidane.

Keane wants Ferguson to go for Italian forwards Christian Vieri of Inter Milan and Alessandro del Piero of Juventus.

Keane is desperate to lift the Champions League. He was suspended when United triumphed in 1999, and believes Vieri and del Piero could make United champions of Europe again.

" My dream is to win the Champions League. I want a medal," he said.

Manchester were linked Wednesday with a move for Valencia´s Ruben Baraja. The Spanish international is seen as a possible replacement for Keane if injuries continue to trouble him but the 27-year-old is also being chased by Real.
