Van Nistelrooy said: " It´s a fantastic day. Manchester United showed great faith in me when they bought me.
" Now we will have a holiday and come back refreshed next year."
Everton initially objected to United receiving the Premiership trophy at Goodison Park because they feared there were " safety issues."
But the potential row was resolved and United were able to celebrate with 3,000 fans who travelled to Merseyside, with Everton fans also applauding the champions.
Ten weeks that turned the title
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand said: " We had a big, big hill to climb and we managed to do it.
" Everyone was very hungry, particular players at this club who don´t normally go a year without winning a trophy.
" We were all determined to put that right. There was a time when we wondered whether it might be slipping away, but everyone showed tremendous will to win and spirit."
The win at Everton and the celebration was a fitting climax to a brilliant end to the season for United, who clawed back Arsenal´s eight point lead with an undefeated run since the turn of the year that took them to the title.
Press Watch: Kewell ´ready to reject new contract from Leeds´
Confusion surrounds Defoe´s future
12 May 2003
Sir Alex Ferguson´s hopes of having Harry Kewell may be dashed, even though Leeds´ likely asking price for the Australian could be as little as £8m, according to the Mail on Sunday. Its report says Kewell is almost certain to reject a £50,000-a-week offer to remain at Elland Road and will be sold on cut-price terms rather than be allowed to move for nothing when his contract expires in 2004 – but that he has told friends he would prefer to sign for Arsenal.
The Express, however, reckons Ferguson has beaten off all Premiership rivals to Sporting Lisbon´s Ricardo Quaresma but there are differences of opinion over whether he is likely to land West Ham´s Jermain Defoe. The News of the World says the young striker will stun the Hammers by handing in a transfer request this week, even though the Sunday Mirror reckons he and Joe Cole have pledged their future to Upton Park.
But the Mirror says team-mate Frédéric Kanouté could be on his way out of West Ham, with Liverpool apparently planning to ditch Emile Heskey and sign Kanouté in his place.
The Express believes the Hammers goalkeeper David James can go for £1.5-£2m and names Manchester City as a possible destination, although the Mail says City are leading the chase for Bayern Munich´s Oliver Kahn and the News of the World reckons Bolton´s Jussi Jaaskelainen is the man Kevin Keegan has picked as Peter Schmeichel´s successor.
The People says Keegan wants Steve McManaman and that Birmingham City have ambitious plans to sign the Chilean striker Marcelo Salas on a year´s loan from Juventus

" Ruud delighted at championship success "
Ruud van Nistelrooy was understandably delighted after United beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park and lifted the Premiership trophy.
United´s Dutch striker has looked desperately hungry for his first silverware at the club all season long, and had further reason to celebrate after final whistle at Goodison when he found out he had been awarded the Golden Boot for top scorer in the Premiership.
Ruud clinched his 25th Premiership strike and 44th goal of the season in all competitions from the penalty spot against Everton, and the Dutchman was elated on the pitch after the game.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Ruud said: " We played very well today although we were already champions. We won the game with some great football and now we´re here celebrating it."
Van Nistelrooy was relieved to have finally claimed the championship winners medal he has been chasing for two seasons with the Reds. He said: " I worked so hard for this and I´m so happy with the confidence that United gave me when I was injured. I´m proud to be part of this great team."
With a summer break on the horizon, Ruud is planning to rest up for an even better season next time around - if that´s possible.
" I´ll just relax, go on holiday and come back stronger next season," he added.
