=>United are continuing to monitor Rüstü’s situation, with Fabien Barthez looking certain to leave Old Trafford in the summer, but Sir Alex Ferguson’s preference is for a goalkeeper with experience of English football. Robinson is thought to be the main contender, although Ferguson has also expressed a growing admiration for Brad Friedel, of Blackburn Rovers, and Antti Niemi, of Southampton.

Suicide at Beckham mansion
The last owner of Posh and Becks’ new French mansion blew his brains out in the study, The Sun can reveal. His body is buried in the chapel of the £1.5million villa. It is thought soccer superstar David and wife Victoria had no idea about the property’s grisly past when they bought it. And a lawyer who revealed the suicide said: “Maybe they should bring in an exorcist.” The death of the previous owner — retired EU bureaucrat Leslie Duck, who had a mega-rich Swiss wife - is still cloaked in mystery. Locals in the Provence village of Bargemon were kept in the dark about the shotgun suicide.

Teddy in talks to be manager
Teddy Sheringham is being fast-tracked into management - two days after he was kicked out by Tottenham. Talks have already taken place between FA top brass and the former England striker about coaching. Acting FA technical director Les Reed revealed Sheri´s managerial ability was spotted years ago. Reed said: " I´ve spoken to Teddy about coaching a number of times over the last few years and we will look at the situation again when the season is over to discuss what best course of action to take. Obviously Teddy is still keen to play at the moment. But it is feasible to play and get coaching badges at the same time.

Red devil Justin
Justin Timberlake turned into a Red Devil - when he joined the Manchester United team for an exclusive party after his first UK show. The man of the moment sped away from Sheffield Arena on Wednesday night to party with his footballing pals, including David Beckham. The Premiership champions headed back to Manchester after a day at Chester Races for some posh nosh at the Living Room. Star players including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rio Ferdinand, Fabien Barthez, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Diego Forlan and Gary Neville decamped to nearby Sugar Lounge, where Justin hung out with his soccer idols.

He can make his Fortune
The South Africa midfield player whom boss Fergie believes is the future of Manchester United signed a new three-year deal with the Premiership champions. Fortune, 25, who joined from Atletico Madrid for £1.5million in August 1999, has made only 15 appearances for United this season after breaking a leg against Liverpool. But Ferguson has been impressed with the way the star has fought back. He said: " We´re delighted Quinton has agreed a new deal. He has been improving every year since he joined us. He has shown great character to come back from his various injury problems. He has hopefully overcome them now and he´s doing well and we look forward to him making a great contribution to the team in the next three years."

Giggs: We won´t sell Rovers short
Ryan Giggs has reassured Blackburn Rovers that Manchester United will not take their foot off the gas in Sunday´s final fixture at Goodison Park. Rovers must beat Tottenham at White Hart Lane and rely on the champions avoiding defeat against Everton in order to pip the Merseysiders for the final UEFA Cup place. " We want to finish off with a victory at Everton," said Giggs. " We owe it to Blackburn and we are well aware there has to be a professional integrity about games."

Fergie and Busby
A great number of questions are thrown up by the unprecedented success of Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. There is one question that can never be resolved. It is provoked by Ferguson´s astonishing run of trophy winning and asks if he has at last relegated his great predecessor, Sir Matt Busby, to a secondary place in the history of the club. My answer is no - not now, not ever - and this will be true however many more trophies Fergie takes to Old Trafford.

BECKHAM TO STAY
Story by Editor 9 May 2003
More to come, some may leave
Kenyon, speaking on Sky Sports News, outlines our transfer
strategy:
“We want Sir Alex Ferguson to stay for three more years
because we want continuity. It´s all about continuity and
David is one player we want to form that continuity around,
like Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, the Nevilles, Ruud van
Nistelrooy and everybody else.
“Money is available and if we go over the budget then
clearly it´s a case of disposing of players as well as
bringing them in. But that´s not a headline, it´s a normal
course of business, the way we do things. Manchester United
is about evolution, not revolution. The reality is what
we´ll start with next season will be the team which will
hopefully take us to the Premiership, the Champions League
and the FA Cup.”
Speaking more about the Beckham rumours he said:
“You don´t spend 12 months negotiating a new contract to
give up on it 12 months later. We re-signed David because we
saw him as part of our squad for the next three years
