" Sir Alex Ferguson has been fined £4,600 by Uefa for claiming the quarter-final draw for the Champions League was fixed.
Ferguson was charged with bringing the game into disrepute after making his comments in British newspapers shortly after the draw was made.
He apologised and wrote a letter of explanation to Uefa´s disciplinary body but it was not enough to save him from a fine of 10,000 Swiss Francs.
Uefa communications director Mike Lee said: " Uefa´s control and disciplinary body decided to impose a 10,000 Swiss Franc fine on Sir Alex Ferguson for improper conduct to the media.
The whole draw is open and fair and that makes his words even more ridiculous and unprofessional
Friedrich Stickler,
Chairman of Uefa´s competitions committee
" The body took into account the fact that Sir Alex had already been fined previously by Uefa."
Ferguson´s remarks had incensed Uefa, not least the man who made the draw, Austrian FA president Friedrich Stickler, who is also the chairman of the competitions committee.
Stickler has decided not take legal action over the remarks.
He said: " The whole draw is open and fair and that makes his words even more ridiculous and unprofessional but the matter should not be prolonged."
Ferguson, who escaped a possible touchline ban, made the comments prior to the first leg against the Spanish giants, who went through 6-5 on aggregate.
Ronaldo ends Man Utd dream
He said: " Real Madrid - they have a nice draw, they must have picked it themselves.
" The Spanish or Italian teams don´t play each other, how do you think they work that out?"
" They don´t want us in the final, that´s for sure, but I´m not listening."
Lee immediately branded the remarks " unfortunate and silly".
Ferguson´s previous brush with Uefa was for remarks before United faced Inter Milan.
Ferguson responded to Inter´s claims that Ronaldo was injured for the match by saying: " When the Italians tell you it´s pasta on the plate I even check under the sauce to make sure it really is."
Before the second leg at San Siro he said the Italians´ tactics would include " scheming, diving, referee baiting - the full repertoire".
He was fined £2,000 for his comments "
" O´Shea set for new deal" ( BBC)
O´Shea has become a first team regular
Manchester United defender John O´Shea is to be offered a new deal at the end of the season, according to reports.
The Republic of Ireland international has three years left on his present deal, but the Manchester Evening News say United are ready to reward him with an improved contract.
O´Shea signed a new four-year deal in March 2002 having made just eight senior appearances.
But this season has seen O´Shea become an important first team player with 47 appearances, including 39 starts.
And manager Sir Alex Ferguson paid tribute to the 22-year-old along with the rest of United´s youthful defence.
" They are young defenders," Ferguson told United´s official website.
" Wes ( Brown) needs games. He still needs the experience of playing a whole season, and I think in two or three years time he could be a very good player.
" O´Shea has shown that and Rio Ferdinand has achieved a lot in his first year at Manchester United."
O´Shea, who was reported to be on a weekly wage in the region of £10,000, could be set to take home a pay packet of £35,000-a-week, according to the MEN.
In the meantime, O´Shea faces a fitness battle in order to be ready for the Premiership leaders home game against Charlton on Saturday following the recurrence of a knee injury.

=>Cisse vers Liverpool.....
" Houllier primed as Cissé eyes move to Anfield
By Oliver Kay
LIVERPOOL have been given an extra incentive to qualify for next season’s Champions League after Djibril Cissé, the France forward, declared his interest in moving to Anfield. Gérard Houllier, the Liverpool manager, has been pursuing the 21-year-old for two years, although his hopes of meeting Auxerre’s £10 million-plus asking price will almost certainly rest on qualification for Europe’s premier competition.
Houllier was expected to attend France’s friendly international against Egypt in Paris last night and is understood to have met Guy Roux, the Auxerre manager and a close friend, for lunch on Monday, when the subject of Cissé is certain to have cropped up. The forward has been coveted by several top clubs, including Manchester United, but he has suggested that Liverpool would be his preferred destination when he leaves Auxerre.
“Liverpool are the only club that has made a concrete approach,” Cissé said. “They have followed me for several years and it is a club I have a great impression of. We played them ( in the Uefa Cup) this season and I was particularly touched by the crowd.” "
