Meme leur milieu defensif Emerson est plus createur que defensif donc j´attends de voir ca que ca va donner.

Manchester United have signed Michael Carrick from Tottenham Hotspur for Stg17 million. The EXCLUSIVE news was revealed on Setanta Sports programme The Hub on Thursday evening.

Carrick is set to finalise personal terms before being unveiled to the media at Old Trafford within the next 48 hours - the press conference is likely to take place before the weekend, however.

Setanta Sports understands that Carrick will move in a straight-cash deal, with no players moving in the opposite direction. The midfielder´s desire to move to United is said to have forced Martin Jol into letting one of his prize assets leave North London.

Carrick is set to pen a five-year deal at Old Trafford once his medical is completed and terms are agreed, with no hitches expected at this stage.

United agreed a fee of Stg17m with Tottenham on Thursday after tracking the midfielder for the last couple of seasons. Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson sees Carrick, who was a member of England´s World cup squad, as a replacement for Roy Keane.

The news will be a major boost for United´s fans with Ruud van Nistelrooy all but completing his move to Real Madrid this week.

Manchester United are set to complete the protracted transfer of Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick, according to newspaper reports.

Spurs rejected a £10m bid for the 25-year-old midfielder over six weeks ago but are now believed to have agreed to a deal worth about £15m.

The cash is likely to come from United striker Ruud van Nistlerooy´s expected £10m transfer to Real Madrid.

Carrick cost Spurs £2.75m when he joined from West Ham in August 2004.

The midfielder has won seven England caps, making his debut when coming on as a substitute against Mexico in 2001.

He was part of England´s World Cup squad but made just one appearance in Germany, in the 1-0 win over Ecuador in the first game of the knockout stages.

Quand hier le Sun annonçait Ruud + 14 millions d´euros pour Carrick et que tout le monde riait, au final on en est pas loin ... Ruud + 8 millions d´euros voila ce qu´il a fallu pour Carrick ... Mu aime bien se faire entuber quand même ...

Vers 1m20 dans cette vidéo on voit une belle percée de Carrick. On voit aussi qu´il ne faudra pas compter sur lui pour marquer des buts cette saison.

Par contre ce joueur n´a aucune classe ...

Je me demande si Sir Alex va prendre un autre milieu parce que Carrick n´est pas le plus défensif des milieux qu´on voulait recruter.

En tout cas, c´est une bonne chose, on commence enfin à renforcer notre milieu en attendant de voir la suite s´il y a suite...

Toujours pas d´annonce officiel de MU pour le transfert de Ruud. Alors vendu ou pas?

On ne veut pas dire qu´on n´a pas pu le vendre au prix désiré ou alors son départ n´est vraiment pas conclu.

Je suppose que l´officialisation pour Ruud sera dans la journée...Quand à son prix, à moins de travailler pour MU il sera difficile de connaître les termes exacts du contrat et les différentes clauses liées aux performances, ou l´étalement des versements. On parle de 11M£ quand on en voulait 15M£, mais on peut se demander si 11M£ en un versement serait pas mieux que 15M£ sur 3 ans, donc...

Au sujet de Carrick, il est à des années-lumières devant O´Shea au milieu, alors la différence sera flagrante.

Même si les médias s´emballent un peu, il semble que pour Carrick ce soit en trés bonne voie...C´est le minimum de toute façon. Aprés si on a un autre milieu ou un attaquant tant mieux, mais déjà Carrick ce serait pas mal du tout.

(Sinon j´ai soumis un article à MUSC, avec les vacs ça ronronne un peu, mais je vous dirai s´il est mis en ligne)

Ruud blames Ferguson after exit

Ruud van Nistelrooy said the breakdown of his relationship with manager Sir Alex Ferguson was the only reason he wanted to leave Manchester United.

"My relationship with Ferguson had ended which was very painful," said the 30-year-old Dutchman after signing for Real Madrid on Friday.

"It had nothing to do with the club or the fans.

"It was the relationship with the manager that broke. I thought it was best to leave."

Van Nistelrooy said he had begun to feel unsettled at Old Trafford after he was left out of the team for February´s Carling Cup final.

He eventually handed in a written transfer request, with Real Madrid seeing off competition from Bayern Munich for his signature.

However, Van Nistelrooy said he did not bear a grudge against Ferguson over the bitter end to his five-year spell at United.

"I had an incredible five years in Manchester and I will always remember my time there and the unconditional support from the fans," he said.

"I never got to say goodbye to Ferguson but there is plenty of time for that. I owe him a lot and that is why it was so painful."

Ferguson pressed ahead with a move for Van Nistelrooy even after the then-PSV striker failed a medical in April 2000.

The Dutchman then sustained a serious knee injury while training with PSV a few days later but United stood by him and he eventually joined for £19m.

"Ferguson did a lot for me, waiting for me while I was injured then giving me the chance to play and giving me confidence," Van Nistelrooy told a news conference at the Bernabeu on Friday.

"But what happened, happened. A good relationship ended. It was very disappointing for me."

United issued a statement on their official website, which read: ""Manchester United would like to wish Ruud all the best at his new club and thank him for the great service he provided."
