South Africa tour squad named

A United squad blending youth and experience will fly to Durban to begin their 10-day tour of South Africa this afternoon.

The old heads of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are joined by teenage Academy graduates Danny Simpson and Jonny Evans, while Ben Foster is set to make his first United appearance almost a year after joining from Stoke City.

Foster spent last season at Watford, and is joined by five other returning loanees - Simpson, Liam Miller, Chris Eagles, Phil Bardsley and David Jones - all looking to make their mark in the absence of first-team regulars.

Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo - guesting from Royal Antwerp - also makes his second pre-season tour appearance, having played and scored in last summer´s Asia tour.

Sir Alex Ferguson´s side have one full day to prepare for their Saturday clash with Orlando Pirates before departing for Cape Town, where they will face Kaizer Chiefs next Tuesday.

Both South African sides will playoff on Thursday July 20 for the right to face United again, in Johannesburg on July 22, before the Reds fly home.

Queiroz: We won´t sell stars

Assistant manager Carlos Queiroz says Manchester United have no intention of selling their best players this summer.

While United supporters have to wait for the club to enter the transfer market this summer, they have had to contend with constant speculation over the futures of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Furthermore, Gabriel Heinze has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid and, although the Argentinian has quashed this rumour, The Red Devils have jetted out to South Africa for their pre-season tour with some concerns over next term´s first-team plan.

Queiroz would not openly confirm United are actively pursuing any specific transfer targets but stressed the Old Trafford outfit will not be selling their top names.

"Of course, I´ve been doing that every day [speaking to Ronaldo]," he told Sky Sports News. "There´s no problems with that.

"No doubts. I think everybody knows during this period of the season, the press have some speculations, but we keep cool. What is important is what the players and the club are doing to be sure, next season, those players will be part of our family.

"We are doing something to improve the team, doing that all the time, regarding the players from last season, we are not ready to lose our best players.

"Of course we are doing our best to improve all the time. Not only buying players but also promoting players. In this camp, this tour, it´s a great opportunity to assess those young players but, in all areas of the club, we are always working hard to improve the club and, of course, the outcome of our work."

Queiroz stressed the tour will hand opportunities to some of the younger players, even though it seems to include some players whose long-term futures may not be in Manchester.

"What is important now is to be sure everybody, the team and the squad, everybody is ready to start the new season," he explained.

"It´s a compromise [the squad]. It´s part of our preparation with some young players but it´s important we represent Manchester.

"We need to honour the name of our club.

"It´s an opportunity to assess the young players, see what we can expect from them during the season."

Queiroz annonce que nous ne sommes pas vendeur mais je me demande quand meme si Ruud fera toujours parti de l´équipe en septembre.

Gattuso fidèle au Milan AC

Le milieu italien du Milan AC, Gennaro Gattuso, a affirmé qu’il resterait au club l’an prochain même si celui-ci était relégué en Serie B.

En attendant le verdict du procès du Calcio, Gennaro Gattuso a affiché son attachement au Milan AC. Dans la Gazzetta dello Sport, le milieu international italien a ainsi déclaré qu"il continuerait de porter le maillot rossonero la saison prochaine même s"il devait évoluer en Serie B.

c´est de plus en plus dur de trouver un milieu de terrain défensif. Alr pk ne pa recruter Maniche qui est un super joueur capable de marqué au 35 metres ?? ??

Moi je pense que ça va bientôt bouger pour Carrick...Les dirigeants font des offres, pas toujours publiques (on a su qu´aprés pour Diarra par ex), donc faut encore attendre un peu.

Pourquoi pas pour Maniche, mais désolé de te le dire mais Ruud est bien meilleur que Saha et même Torres donc l´attaque sera moins bonne si Ruud part.

Non merci pour Maniche car pendant six mois à Chelsea il a été inexistant, qu´il s´était déjà perdu à Moscou pour le goût des $...

On a peu de droit à l´erreur sur le choix du milieu, et c´est certainement pas Maniche qui nous donnera des certitudes ^^

En remplaçant de Gary on a Bardsley pour le moment, et Wes Brown, c´est bien assez.

Giggs est toujours très bon et on a déjà du monde pour le suppléer comme Park ou Kieran.

On a pas besoin de recruter des tas de joueurs pour etre competitif, il nous faut juste un bon récupérateur si on ne vend personne.

En plus, la tournée va peut-etre permettre à certain de nos jeunes de se disinguer et de prendre une place dans l´équipe ce qui serait plutôt une bonne chose.

Si on arrive a recruter Pirlo on boucle notre mercato

Pirlo, c´est quand meme pas un milieu defensif, il a plus profil de Scholes.

Charlton coy on Ruud future

Manchester United director Sir Bobby Charlton has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, but was less certain over the future of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Red Devils have been forced to field questions on the futures of their key players in recent weeks, with Portuguese star Ronaldo reported to be upset with life at Old Trafford and van Nistelrooy catching the eye of Real Madrid.

Ronaldo is public enemy number one for many England fans following his part in Wayne Rooney´s dismissal at the World Cup finals and had been quoted as saying he wanted out of Old Trafford.

The club have vowed to keep hold of their star winger and Charlton says the stance has not changed.

"We have already said publicly about Cristiano, Cristiano Ronaldo is not going anywhere," Charlton told Sky Sports News.

Dutch striker van Nistelrooy endured a tough end to last term as he fell out of favour with Ferguson.

The Scot said recently that he expected van Nistelrooy to report for training, but he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Charlton claims Ferguson will have the final say on the Dutchman´s future.

"These are the decisions that you will have to address to Alex," added Charlton. "But it is not the club policy to give our best players away."

Je vois pas pourquoi certains veulent deux milieux défensifs, on a toujours été un club et une équipe qui allait de l´avant, on va pas commencer aujourd´hui à aligner deux "bucherons" à la récupération...Scholes sera titulaire au milieu, donc il faut juste un milieu défensif naturel qui puisse rester devant la défense, mais avec une relance correcte, pas besoin d´en prendre deux ou dix.

Pirlo devant la défense

Pirlo, c´est pas un recuperateur c´est pour ça que Gattuso joue avec lui c´est son boulot de prendre les ballons.

On a pas besoin de bucherons juste 2 recuperateurs qui prendront le relai devant la défense

Notre ancienne charnière c´était Scholes-Keano. Scholes qui anime le jeu et Keane qui récupère tous les ballons et relance.

Comme on a toujours Scholes, il nous faut un joueur du meme style que Keane et Pirlo c´est pas le meme. De toute façon, je vois pas pourquoi Milan lacherait Pirlo.
