AIG are new United sponsors
Manchester United have confirmed that they have signed a deal with American International Group (AIG) to become their new shirt sponsors.
AIG become the third name on the famous red shirts, following Sharp and Vodafone, after tying up a £56.5 million contract.
The deal lasts for four years and it follows the breakdown of negotiations with Mansion.
It is a British record deal, surpassing Chelsea´s £10 million per season sponsorship from Samsung, although it is worth less than gambling firm Mansion were prepared to offer.
"We are delighted to begin our relationship with AIG," chief executive David Gill told a press conference.
"Let´s be clear. We passed up the opportunity to do the world´s biggest shirt deal to do a deal that is right for Manchester United and a deal that underlines our position as the world´s leading club.
"AIG’s global operations complement our great fan-base and we are excited about the global prospects this relationship brings.
"This is a blue-chip deal for a blue-chip club."
AIG´s main interests are in general insurance, life insurance and retirement policies, whilst also offering general financial services.
Based in New York, they employ almost 100,000 people.
Voilà, le nouveau sponsor c´est AIG. On touchera 56,5M£ pour 4 ans contre 65 à 70M£ avec Mansion... Chercher l´erreur...
Sampdoria: Hands off Foti
Sampdoria have warned some of the top Premiership clubs that they have no intention of selling young striker Salvatore Foti.
The Blucerchiati are refusing to consider off-loading the promising forward, despite reports that Chelsea are contemplating a €7 million (£4.9 million) bid in the summer.
Tottenham and Arsenal are also admirers of the 17-year-old from Sicily, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but Samp are in no mood to do business.
"For us, Foti is untouchable," warned general director Giuseppe Marotta.
"He won´t move from here."
Foti already has a Serie A goal to his name, an injury time strike against Messina, and the exciting teenager has also been followed by Manchester United in the past.
The Italy Under-17 international claimed recently he made the right choice in joining the Genoa club as he wanted to make his mark in Serie A.
http://www.manchesterdevils.com/index.php
tiens

Vidic happy he snubbed Pool
Nemanja Vidic has revealed that he does not regret snubbing the current European champions in favour of a move to Manchester United.
As reported on skysports.com at the time, the Serbian defender has confirmed that he decided to join The Red Devils as soon as they expressed an interest.
United announced the £7 million signing of the 24-year-old from Spartak Moscow on Christmas Day 2005.
Up until that point, Liverpool had made enquiries about the centre back and Fiorentina even believed that they had secured the Serbia & Montenegro player.
Vidic told Manchester Evening News: "I did receive some offers from other clubs, including Liverpool.
"United´s offer came quite late on but as soon as I heard they were interested, I wanted to sign for them immediately and when I did, I had no doubts I had made the right decision.
"They have a huge number of great supporters and the club represents something absolutely fantastic for me.
"I really hope my time in Manchester will be one of the best periods of my life."
Dowd replaced for United game
Phil Dowd has been replaced as the referee for Manchester United´s game with Arsenal on Sunday, with Graham Poll stepping in.
The Old Trafford clash is traditionally a volatile affair and with stakes again high at the weekend, the spotlight is sure to be on both players and officials alike.
Dowd has been in the news this week after receiving some forthright criticism from Wigan boss Paul Jewell, who was unhappy with the referee´s performance in his side´s 1-1 draw with Blackburn on Monday.
However, Premier League referees chief Keith Hackett insists the decision was purely based on the fact that Poll, England´s most experienced referee, has now declared himself fit, rather than as a reflection of Dowd´s performance at Ewood Park.
´´Graham had been a doubt but is now fit,´´ said Hackett.
´´We made this decision at the end of the week because we fit the referee to the games, and he is our World Cup referee.
´´It is nothing to do with any criticism of Phil Dowd.´´
Changement d´arbitre pour le match ce sera Graham Poll.
Man Utd claim March award double
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has won the Premiership manager of the month award for March.
England striker Wayne Rooney made it a double for United by picking up the player prize.
United won all five of their Premiership matches in March, cutting Chelsea´s lead at the top of the Premiership to seven points.
Rooney, 20, featured in all five games, scoring twice against Newcastle and once against Birmingham.
The striker has won the player award twice in the past, while Ferguson has been named manager of the month an impressive 16 times.
On remonte petit topic, demain match important ^^
